Today, I will be discussing a handful of 2028 running backs. I believe they will take the next step in their development, reaching new heights in their career for the 2025 season. Between the bruising power backs, to the elusive backs who break ankles; there's a lot to like from the 2028 class of running backs.

I had the pleasure of watching Phillips punish defenses this past spring season with Mile High Prep, as an offensive intern. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and balance. Chance consistently gained yards after contact. Trucking through the defenders, and using his very good balance to stay up. Very good vision. Starting with an explosive first step, Phillips would then diagnose the hole. If the gap was covered, he'd use his dynamic jump cuts to pivot into an open one. Phillips is a powerful downhill runner, who has a nasty stiff arm. Whether it's inside running or outside running, Chance was dominating. Phillips is the real deal who will continue developing under prestigious RB Coach James Walker. Him and [player_tooltip player_id='983302' first='Elijah' last='Cromwell'] will be a two-headed monster for Cherry Creek for years to come once [player_tooltip player_id='212249' first='Jayden' last='Fox'] graduates.

Leal balled out within the 5 games he played. He had 72 carries for 452 yards, 3 TDs, 4 receptions for 55 yards. In 4 out of the 5 games played, he went over a 100+ yards. Leal has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and good balance. He utilizes his good vision to find holes. Very explosive first step. During one play, he got stuffed at the line of scrimmage, and bounced around the OL/DL to gain ten plus yards. Leal is a weaver by using his change of direction to juke out defenders and around them. Very good outside runner, turning the corner and accelerating all the way through. Leal isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty with blocking in pass protection. An exciting young player who produced in limited game action.

Bunton was used as mismatching weapon, lining up at both running back and wide receiver. He had 44 carries for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns, 49 receptions for 642 yards, and 8 touchdowns. The 5'7 athlete can slot into the backfield, outside receiver, or the slot. Very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, change of direction, and good jumping. Bunton III is a homerun threat with the ball in his hands. Uses his very good change of direction to glide across the field paired with his very good vision. As a receiver, he has a good release. Very good separation quickness and catching. Extends his body to make the catch. Good body control for contested catches. Bunton III has the rare ability to decelerate, make the defender miss, and goes back to top speed effortlessly. Bunton III's versatility keeps opposing coordinators up at night.

The 5'5 145 pound running back had 65 carries for 459 yards and 3 touchdowns. Boasting an impressive 7.1 yards per carry. Jaramillo has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, change of direction, balance, and good acceleration. He utilizes his good vision to weave around the defense. Jaramillo glides through defenders like an elusive dancer, making them miss with ease. Still creates yards after contact. He shed a would be TFL, and turned it into an 85 + yard touchdown with his home run speed. Very good at outside running. He would be used on toss plays and jet sweeps, and gash the defense on those runs. One thing of note is Jaramillo would take big hits, and continue to produce. I'm very excited to see how he continues his development.

Tacha was a dual way player for Limon playing both RB and MLB. The 6'0 180-pound freshman had 107 carries for 648 yards with 5 touchdowns, 10 receptions for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns. On defense, he had 75 total tackles (23 solo, 51 assisted), 6.5 TFL, 2 FF, and 1 FR. He has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, change of direction, good speed, and balance. Tacha utilizes his knowledge of gaps to dominate on both sides of the ball. If a hole is covered, he uses his jump cuts to pivot and change direction. Good vision and mixes power and speed with his runs. Good at both inside and outside running. As a linebacker, he used his good mental processing to stuff gaps and create the TFL. I'm impressed with how Tacha plays, and I'm excited to see more from him going into next season.
