There is no doubt that our state has some great talent. That claim can be easily proven just by how many prospects are picking up D1 offers and interest. Below are a breakdown of some of those athletes that are starting to get real deal D1 interest!

It was a very busy January on the recruiting front for Jayden. Bell already has really high upside physically. He has a solid build and he uses it extremely well. His freshman tape tells me he could end up being an elite edge rusher. Right now his first step is on par with a lot of athletes in the 2028 class, but he is really tough to block with his big frame, long limbs and plethora of moves to get off blocks. He seems to be a really sure tackler as well which is a big positive. He does display some football IQ as I noticed he doesn't tend to get way up field and leave his assignment like younger players are prone to do. On top of all of this, he is going to have a ton of varsity snaps at this rate and the more experience he gains, the better he will be. The ceiling is super high for Jayden over the coming years.

Kayd is on a great run of offers here in the recent weeks. Turn on his tape and you'll see why D1 schools are really taking a liking to him. First off, you can tell he has the confidence and decision making to command an offense. He diagnoses coverage, matchups and exploits weak spots quickly with his fluid mechanics and quick trigger. He has no issue putting plenty of zip on the ball and has nice touch as well when necessary. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do with a season in his new offense under his belt and another offseason of work. East Kentwood is going to be a major threat once again with Kayd at the helm.

The pure talent at Cass Tech is hard to beat. Among the great players for the Technicians, [player_tooltip player_id='977482' first='Julian' last='Taylor'] is a major standout. After watching his film, you can tell he's a major spark for the offense. In a somewhat limited role, Taylor does a great job of hitting the hole with great speed and using his low center of gravity to break through tacklers. He is build really solid and has violent knees that just rips through arm tackles. He is just as productive in the passing game, typically taking check downs and screens for extra yardage and getting some nice gains out in space. Mylan has been picking up a ton of D1 steam and I am super excited to see how he evolves over this offseason.

I really fell in love with this kid's tape. It's not incredibly lengthy or anything, but what I see is a high motor defensive lineman with super high upside. He has a quick first step, does a great job of shedding blocks and creating a ton of pressure. He consistently collapsed the pocket and forced QBs to adjust. Gibson demonstrated the ability to fill gaps and make tackles in the run game along with just being a pass rusher. Gibson has received some MAC offers recently, and he looks to be 1 offseason away from exploding on the recruiting trail.

If you want to talk about high upside, look no further than Mateo. Tremendous size, great get off and the ability to run through blockers to get in the backfield make Kipke everything you'd want in a defensive line product. Despite his great height, he still keeps his pad level low and fires off with intensity. When Mateo puts his hand in the dirt, he makes it tough to block him with his ability to shoot the gap and use his long arm span to keep blockers off of him. When he lines up outside, he shows the kind of speed and bend that makes it impossible for a tackle to take him 1 on 1. MAC schools are all over him, and I think more will be soon. Watch for this dude to have a phenomenal senior season.
