Football/Basketball Crossover Athletes

<p>College coaches love recruiting student athletes who are multi-sport participants. There is great value from continuing to develop as a teammate to learning techniques that can carry over to the football field down the road. Playing sports year round, or close to it, is also a fantastic way to keep the competitive juices flowing through the athlete. During the winter we see hundreds of football players take to the hardwood and continue their dominance there. Here at Prep Redzone we want to make sure those athletes get the recognition they deserve for their efforts. Today we are going to take a look at the stats, success, and honors that some of the top athletes in WI have had on the football field in 2024 and on the basketball court this season.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Basketball Stats</td><td>Football Stats</td></tr><tr><td>32.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 5.4 APG</td><td>1,929 Passing Yards, 15 TDs, 400+ Rushing Yards, 9 TDs, 27 Tackles, 4 INTs</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <p>Drew has been a prolific performer on the basketball court since he was a freshman, culminating in a commitment to UW- Stevens Point. Lamont helped win the D4 State Championship with his 4 TD performance and later earned the WR1 spot in our rankings update for the Class of 2026. The Winona State football commit carried a massive workload on the gridiron this past fall leading the team in passing yards, rushing yards, TDs through the air and on the ground, and tackles. Ayden is coming off of an outrageous 51 point performance in their most recent game. Buckman currently sits at 34th in scoring in the state with his nearly 25 PPG. More importantly, Cambridge sits at 20-3 on the season. His size on the outside made him a huge mismatch. He has clearly carried over the dominance and power to the basketball court where he is pouring in the points. Tyler commands the offense on the court just like he does on the field. He has been able to get his own with 11.5 PPG during the basketball season and almost 500 rushing yards during the football season with 6 TDs. East was 6-4 in football and are currently 16-6 on the hardwood. He is second on the team in scoring, and assists while leading the way in rebounds. That is after he led the football team in tackles and TFLs while also being second in receptions and yards. As a freshman he averaged 6.1 PPG and jumped to almost 20 PPG this season, so far. He also took over the starting QB job on the football field where he played in 10 games. The sophomore helped the football team to a 93 record before going on to lead the basketball team to an 18-5 record. The dual sport athlete is one to keep an eye on over the coming years.</p>
