. The Winona State football commit carried a massive workload on the gridiron this past fall leading the team in passing yards, rushing yards, TDs through the air and on the ground, and tackles. He has carried that dominance over to the basketball court leading Somerset to a 9-14 record to this point in the season.

has been putting up big numbers for the offense and defense. His work at QB is our focus in today’s article. The dual threat QB shredded the Ellsworth defense for a big day on the ground while also keeping them honest with his arm. Watching through this week’s highlights, it is clear that Kane is a big time playmaker. He has the arm to stretch the field. He has a powerful frame, highlighted by one of the passes he was able to get off while having a defender hanging all over him. The senior also runs very hard, moving the pile and dragging defenders downfield. Whether in the pocket, on the run, or while fighting off tackles, Kane is able to maintain his accuracy too. He is an accomplished QB and a very consistent one week to week. Don’t sleep on this kid.

Stats: 13/21, 181 Passing Yards, 2 Passing TDs, 20 Carries 89 Yards, 2 Rushing TDs, 3 TacklesrnWhat a performance by the junior QB from Somerset. The most impressive parts of his game weren’t the physical traits. It was the mental side. Multiple times, Kane made big time passes on 4th down. I believe both of his TDs came on 4th down. Plus he stayed locked into the game situation as he milked the clock on the game winning drive. Not to mention showing the leadership to help his team come back from down multiple possessions early on.
Now flip to the physical traits, and he is just as much of a need to know athlete. He has the size, he brings a dual threat ability to the field that defenses have to gameplan for. Kane delivered accurate passes, and did a really good job of buying time inside and outside the pocket. This was a special performance to take in. Coaches, make sure you check this junior passer out.

Another standout among the QBs that I saw was the Somerset ’25.

checked in at 6’2″ 182 lbs. The size was great to see, but even more impressive was the improvement of his game compared to his sophomore film. Kane’s arm has definitely taken a step forward. At camp, Donnelly delivered passes with far more velocity than many of his highlights from 2022. He didn’t have to put a ton of air under the ball to get it downfield. His throwing motion seemed to be more fluid as well. Seeing the improvement will help him climb the rankings from his current spot. Seeing this type of development has me excited for what could be to come over the next year.
