Xavier Wooldridge is ranked as the state’s No. 3-ranked prospect for good reason, and he proved he has the goods on Saturday at the Exposure Series camp. Wooldridge is still raw as a route runner, but his tall, lengthy frame and soft hands make him a top wideout. Woolridge has a wide catch radius, high-points the ball v. tight coverage effectively and can snatch the ball out of the air nicely. I’ve seen Wooldridge play live four times over the last three years, and every time I see him play he is absolutely elite. As a Defensive Back his length and athleticism can erase the top Wide Receiver on the team he’s playing against. As a Quarterback, his dual-threat ability completely paralyzes the opposition. The son of a football coach, he’s fast, physical and all signs point to him being an elite talent as he gets set to head to the next level.

Out of all the prospects on Region 4, Wooldridge was the first one that caught my eye during warmups–even before I had a roster in my hands. Last June he was a clear standout for the Kentucky Future Stars on the defensive side of the ball, but this weekend he manned the QB duties for R4. They don’t come much more dual-threat than Wooldridge. Throughout the weekend he ran over, around and through the opposing defenses all weekend with a plethora of naked boots and QB keepers. He did have a pair of TD passes as well and some other nice short throws , but his bread is buttered with his athleticism.

Woolridge was honorably mentioned a season ago in his region as its POY by the Kentucky Middle School Football Association (KYMSFA). Woolridge is a regular on the postseason, middle school, all-star circuit and routinely leads his team on deep playoff runs. This year shouldn’t be any different.
