Our final ranking update for the state's 2025 class came out on Thursday. When we first started ranking the state's 2025 class, it began with a Top 25 in February of 2022. Now, it finishes with the Top 300 and many more players listed outside of those 300. Every time we do a ranking update, we dive into the positions with various breakdowns. In this breakdown, we're taking one final look at the defensive back position with a breakdown of each guy in the final top five. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2025 breakdowns and more ranking updates throughout the next month!

[player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] - Carl Albert

Carl Albert star and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] is listed at #3 overall in our final rankings but honestly, it's more like 1A, 1B and 1C, take your pick on which slot he fits in. Haynes is right there with the top two guys in an argument for the top spot. Haynes has been an absolute superstar for the Titans over the last two seasons. He's been their leading receiver, a lockdown corner and devastating as a kick returner. Haynes would emerge as the latest Oklahoman to earn All American honors. He checks about every box that there is for a prospect and he's had an absolute stranglehold on the top spot when it comes to the 2025 defensive backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='192928' first='Ryan' last='Grayson'] - Beggs

Beggs standout and Missouri State signee [player_tooltip player_id='192928' first='Ryan' last='Grayson'] has probably been listed on our website as 3-4 different positions over the course of his career. Grayson first got on our radar as a running back and then emerged as a similar playmaker to Haynes where he could impact the game at wide receiver, defensive back and as a kick returner. When we look at this 2025 class as a whole, Grayson might be the absolute best ball hawk in this group. We don't have complete stats from every single team but we'd be surprised if any DBs have more interceptions than Grayson over the last four seasons. He's an absolute steal for Missouri State.

[player_tooltip player_id='349831' first='Ashton' last='Cunningham'] - Union

Union defensive back and Boston College signee [player_tooltip player_id='349831' first='Ashton' last='Cunningham'] is the third guy on this breakdown that we knew about relatively early on in his career. Cunningham got on our radar following his freshman season at Jenks and stayed there for the next three seasons. Following his sophomore season, Cunningham would move over to Union and joined a Redhawk secondary that has had multiple guys with D1 offers or have signed with D1 programs. Cunningham is a blazing fast cornerback that can use that speed to keep up with just about any wide receiver he has to go one on one with. He's another Union DB headed to the P4 level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187307' first='Deante' last='Lindsay'] - Ada

Ada standout and Texas Tech signee [player_tooltip player_id='1187307' first='Deante' last='Lindsay'] is another prospect on this breakdown that might be considered one of the best DB's in this 2025 class but there's also no arguing that he's a terrific two-way player. It was around this time last year that we first noticed and started writing about Lindsay following a breakout junior season. He got on college's radars and went from somewhat of an unknown to receiving multiple D1 offers. Lindsay would ultimately decide on Texas Tech and signed with the Red Raiders. Lindsay's journey to becoming a top five guy at the position was a little different than some of the other guys but he belongs nonetheless.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187305' first='AJ' last='Vaughn'] - Lawton MacArthur

Lawton MacArthur and Northern Iowa signee [player_tooltip player_id='1187305' first='AJ' last='Vaughn'] has been a guy on our radar for a while now. While he might not have been on our radar quite like the top guys at the position, Vaughn was a name that we wanted to see more of during his junior season. We got a chance to see him go to work in person during the last offseason and early on in his senior season. Vaughn is your typical cornerback prospect that can lock down the opposing wide receiver. Vaughn has a high upside and definitely has the potential to be an impact player at the next level. It feels like Northern Iowa was on Vaughn early and that dedication paid off as he signed with them.
