Throughout the last month, we recapped the 2024 football season with All State teams, season recaps and many more player awards. But it's now 2025 and it's time to take a far too early look at the 2025 football season and we continue in Class 2A-2. Now again, it's still early on in the year and we are seven months away from the 2025 season kicking off so there are quite a few things that can change between now and then. For instance, looking back at our WAY too early top ten for Class 2A-2 around this time last year, there were a couple noticeable errors. First off, we had eventual state champion Davis at #6. Whoops. We also had Rejoice Christian at #2 and after the emergency redistricting shuffle in April, they would drop down to Class A-1 and eventually win the state championship. But nevertheless, it's time to take a look ahead and see how 2025 could shape up.

1) DAVIS
- It should be no surprise here but defending champion Davis is on top of our WAY too early rankings for 2025. The Wolves would make a memorable run to the state championship in 2024 and now enter the new year with all eyes on them. They'll need some new players to emerge at some key spots but they bring back quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] and he'll be going into his third season as QB1. That could be enough to defend their crown.

2) VIAN
- Vian brings back one of the best players in the state with [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] returning at running back. And we're not just talking about Class 2A-2. Wright was absolutely dominant in 2024 and helped guide his team all the way to the state championship game. The Wolverines had to settle for the silver ball and there's no doubt that they'll use that to drive them this offseason and try to make another trip to Edmond in 2025.

3) ADAIR
- Adair brings back quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1328091' first='Cooper' last='McCord'] and that's a great starting point when you look at the kind of production he has had in the last two seasons. The Warriors came up short in the quarterfinals when they lost to eventual champion Davis. But we think that Adair is going to be right back in the mix when the 2025 season kicks off. They will be the favorite in a very competitive district and could use that to make a run in the playoffs.

4) STROUD
- Out of the teams in the top five of these rankings, Stroud is the one team that we are the most unsure about moving forward. The Tigers were one of the absolute best teams in Class 2A-2 last season but they lose quite a bit to graduation. However, we think it would be a mistake to think that they are just going to instantly take a step back in 2025. They're probably still the favorites within their district this fall.

5) BEGGS
- Beggs is in a very similar boat as Stroud where we don't quite know what to think of them heading into a new season. They have to replace quite a bit off of last year's team. But over the last decade, Beggs has been one of the more consistent winners that we've seen at this level. So we think that they could certainly find their way back to becoming that top five team but right now there feels like more questions than answers.

6) WYANDOTTE
- Wyandotte might be the best team in 2024 that missed out on the playoffs. They went 7-3 but lost the wrong three games and came up a point shy of making the postseason following a three-way tie for the final two spots. Looking ahead to 2025, the Bears bring back some serious talent on both sides of the ball. And there's no doubt that they'll use missing out on the playoffs as a huge motivator throughout the offseason.

7) VALLIANT
- Valliant took the first step last season, in our opinion, to becoming a team you need to worry about in Class 2A-2. They made it to the playoffs and in 2025, they could go even further than just a playoff appearance. Led by running back/linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='587265' first='Kenny' last='Golston'] and his younger brother [player_tooltip player_id='1171159' first='Kyng' last='Golston'] on the line of scrimmage, the Bulldogs could become a top five team when our preseason rankings come out in June.

8) SALINA
- Salina navigated their way to a quarterfinal appearance in 2024 and we think they could go even further in 2025. Arguably their best player is 2027 standout [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] and he wasn't even 100 percent for basically the entire 2024 season. With Hooker back and with him at 100 percent, this is another team that wouldn't be a surprise to see make a run to the semifinals or even further when the 2025 season kicks off.

9) COLCORD
- Colcord will have a new head coach and a ton of new faces in 2025 but it's hard to imagine that they'll just fall off a cliff in the new year. Colcord has been fairly consistent over the last several years but they also find themselves in a very tough district. Last season, it was arguably the most competitive district in Class 2A-1. There's no doubt that they will need quite a few new names to show up for them to still be a playoff team.

10) HOLDENVILLE
- The 2024 football season was a memorable one for Holdenville as they would capture the district championship in a home win over eventual state champion Davis. Now, the Wolverines might be looking at a rebuild in 2025 as they lose a strong senior class, including some of their top playmakers. But if they can find some solid replacements, combined with that misdirection offense, the Wolverines could be in good shape this fall.
