Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.

Scout's Notes: Quarterbacks

[player_tooltip player_id='1590596' first='Brice' last='Johnson'] was a defensive back that impressed me both during indy and while competing live. During indy Johnson showed that he was a smooth mover and had very good balance in his backpedal. This translated to all phases of competition very well. A balanced defender, Johnson showed that he is capable of using his hands to "feel" a receivers' routes. Furthermore, had this unique ability, at times, to stop a receivers' route without impeding his right to the ball. It was truly unique... Cameron Peoples looks like a prospect who might develop some twitch as he gets older. Peoples' possessed a bit of hop in his step was he backpedaled. Moving backwards seemed to a strength of his too, as he showed a clear change of speed, actually accelerating well, when doing so. A quicker prospect, Peoples did a great job of beating his matchup to the spot, and by proxy, winning with his body. More than a few times he boxed out his matchup and forced them to play through him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590601' first='Jabari' last='Muhammad'] made his share of outstanding plays when the heat of competition turned up. Perhaps his most outstanding play I caught him make was on a pass break up that he made from over the back. Muhammad used his length to reach over the top and deflect the pass. He did this without, from my perspective, committing interference... A true safety who made the roughly 6 hour trip from Massachusetts was [player_tooltip player_id='477644' first='Myles' last='Figueroa']. Figueroa was atop many of the leaderboards in combine testing and his testing scores translated to a stellar performance. Figueroa was probably the most advanced, technically concrete defensive back prospect in attendance. A few things I noticed were how he uses his arms and hands to fully extend when playing the ball. Additionally, he was awfully physical in coverage, likely leveraging his physical and athletic advantage he possessed over much of the competition.

Without a question, the one defensive back that both myself and the coaches found ourselves rooting for was young Sebastian Miranda. As a 2031 graduate, Miranda is currently a 6th grader who measured in at 4'7". What Miranda lacked in height, he made up for - and them some - in technique, competitiveness, and coachability. No matter the matchup he was squared up against, the competitor Miranda is fought all afternoon long. Skill-wise, I saw him do nice job staying in phase with every receiver I saw him line up against. Additionally, Miranda took coaching well and sought it out. Although he did not have a perfect, undefeated camp in competition, his technique was flawless and he only loss due size. I hope I remember his name in about four years when he enters high school.

Northeast Middle School Camp Event Coverage

Event Reaction
The Eye Test: HS Ready-Bodies – Quarterbacks, Running Backs
The Eye Test: HS Ready-Bodies – Tight Ends, Wide Receivers
The Eye Test: HS Ready-Bodies – All Linemen, Defensive Backs, Linebackers
Top Combine Performers: 40-yard Dash, Broad Jump
Top Combine Performers: Pro Agility, L-Drill Times
Scout's Notes: Linebackers, Part I
Scout's Notes: Quarterbacks, Part I
Scout's Notes: Receivers, Part I
