Gavin is a complete tight end, and is our only tight end on this Junior Bowl team. Gavin does a good job as an in-line blocker in the running game, sealing edge defenders and working combo blocks to the next level. At his size, Gavin is still a mismatch in the passing game against linebackers over the middle of the field. Against safeties, he can body them with his size and win with physicality in man to man coverage. Gavin was named All-Conference for the 2nd year in a row, and is receiving some well-deserved recruiting attention.

KD has had a great career so far, and is a supreme athlete on this Junior Bowl team. Coming off of leading West Charlotte to a state championship, KD excels anywhere on offense with the ball in his hands. He has explosive speed at the receiver position and good hands. On the other side of the ball, KD is an excellent defensive back with impressive instincts. Man or zone coverage, KD can play it very well with great agility and reaction skills when the ball is in the air, and in the open field tackling ball carriers. KD recently named a Top 5 including Power 4 schools, reflective of the special player he truly is.

LJ I put in the Athlete category for the Junior Bowl team.because while.he is a dynamite defender as a rover/strong safety, he does have some ability at running back that he doesn't have to show too often. However, LJ is a tackling machine on defense that gets to the football with bad intentions. LJ shows great tackling technique in the open field, totaling 88 tackles with 12 tackles for loss last season. LJ also does a good job in pass coverage, showing the ability to match up against inside receivers in man and zone coverage. LJ has a ton of recruiting interest, with his latest reported offer coming from Georgia Tech.

It feels like Patrick has been at South Point forever, because he's been that much of a staple in their offensive attack the last couple of years from the quarterback spot. Blee is a selection for this Junior Bowl team from the Athlete spot because he is a major running threat, rushing for almost 2600 yards over the last two years. On the next level, due to his toughness and athleticism, Blee could be a running back or even a linebacker on defense. It should be noted that Blee is an excellent baseball player as well - it will be interesting to see if he continues to play both sports in college as well.

There were several options for this final Athlete spot on the Junior Bowl team, but I settled on Raishawn who had a very good breakout season as a receiver who could also play defense on the next level based on his overall athletic profile. As a receiver, Raishawn shows great vertical ability in 1 on 1 situations and excellent speed on long routes, gaining separation against defensive backs in man coverage. Raishawn currently has three offers - Appalachian State, Liberty, and Coastal Carolina.
