FORT MILL | We've looked into the offensive members that stood out at the PRZ Carolinas Stock Up Showcase and now let's look at the defensive side of the ball. Here are 20 players on defense that stood out.

Defensive Line

[player_tooltip player_id='1312432' first='Jace' last='Shropshire'] Blythewood

At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Shropshire is able to fire off the ball quickly and use that speed to win against the opposing offensive lineman. There is not much finesse or power to his game, just speed and quickness, which is a good start considering his youth.

[player_tooltip player_id='797155' first='Justice' last='Hopkins'] Byrnes

Hopkins is able to use his 6-foot-2, 236-pound frame to work through the offensive lineman he is up against. Along with being powerful, he has great feet and can also surprise some people with his speed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1515959' first='Nabiel' last='Ocana'] Weddington

At 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, Ocana showed his power in one-on-one drills. His excellent footwork and strong hands give him the ability to consistently win at the line of scrimmage and push the offensive lineman into the offensive backfield.

Makai Taylor-Williams South Pointe

At 5-foot-8 and 225 pounds, he has the speed of a defensive end coming off the ball paired with the power of a down lineman that can stuff the run game. Very impressive and he will be a welcome addition to the South Pointe defense next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='379013' first='Seth' last='Tillman'] South Pointe

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive lineman from Rock Hill was easily the star of the defensive line. There is a reason he had 15.5 sacks for South Pointe last season, and he showed exactly why that was. He's strong, smart, quick and so many more things you want out of a defensive lineman.

Linebackers

[player_tooltip player_id='854270' first='Jonathan' last='Manson'] Franklinton

Manson may have very well been the best linebacker in attendance. His pursuit to the ball in the open field along with his ability to cover running backs out of the backfield was incredible to watch and he has a bright future ahead.

[player_tooltip player_id='1577696' first='Connor' last='Ross'] Carolina Forest

As has been the theme with the Carolina Forest boys, they all performed excellent at the showcase. Ross is 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds and that build and allows him to anticipate routes coming out of the backfield and explode to those throws and break them up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581470' first='George' last='Handley'] Carolina Forest

Yet another standout from Carolina Forest, Handley stands at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds. He is mobile and can be in the area to make a play in the open field whenever that is needed. His frame will allow him to be a disruptor in the passing game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581476' first='Nasir' last='Angram'] Byrnes

Angram stood out from the start of warmups and stationary drills. His lateral quickness gives him sideline to sideline range and allows him to make a play on ball carriers in the open field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1046790' first='Brayden' last='Hunt'] Metrolina Christian Academy

At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Hunt (pictured) was one of the larger linebackers in attendance. While his ability to rush the quarterback wasn't displayed, he is very physical in defending running backs out of the backfield.

Defensive Backs

[player_tooltip player_id='1581469' first='Colby' last='Flood'] Fountain Inn

The 5-foot-8, 155-pound corner from Fountain Inn had a solid showing. He was very physical in jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage and not allowing them to get any separation. He also has a great ability to break up passes and run with receivers without holding.

Jelani Alecia Carolina Forest

Alecia was another member of the Carolina Forest team that looked excellent. At 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, Alecia has the quickness to not only recover when being beat, but also make a play on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1153738' first='Micah' last='Bright'] Cox Mill

Bright was extremely physical throughout the showcase. At 6-foot and 170 pounds, he was able to handle matchups with taller receivers as well as run with some of the faster receivers.

Derlon Glenn Southside Christian

Much like Bright, Glenn's big frame of 6-foot-2 and 160 pounds allows to him to matchup with taller receivers and be able to hold his own in those matchups. He has excellent ball skills and is excellent in pass breakup situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581476' first='Nasir' last='Angram'] Byrnes

Angram was another instance of someone standing out from the very beginning. His sideline-to-sideline speed and shuttle drills and even the 40-yard dash speed all stood out. With a bit of work on defending without holding, Angram has a bright future.
