With much of the event's groundwork already laid, it is time to discuss who-I-saw-do-what while at Sunday's Stock Up Showcase. Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.

Scout's Notes: Wide Receivers

If there was one pay that caused my jaw to drop it was the one [player_tooltip player_id='1575744' first='Jesiah' last='Godfrey-Pelham'] made. Off of his initial release, you could tell that he wanted to take the inside path but was denied. As a result, Godfrey-Pelham took what was given to him and went outside. When he was able to turn his defender's shoulders just enough, we saw Godfrey-Pelham suddenly cut across his opponents face, sharply and suddenly, to connect on a nasty slant.... After watching enough of him, [player_tooltip player_id='1324997' first='Nick' last='Henzel'] profiled as a slot-type receiver to me. Henzel moved really well - both in terms of speed and quickness - however, gun to my head I would have to say he was more agile than anything.

[player_tooltip player_id='974846' first='Dillon' last='Adams'] is a prospect that seemed awfully sure-handed. I do not recall, nor did I note, an instance where he dropped a pass. What afforded Adams to bat 1.000 was the fact that he makes all of his catches using his hands, and only his hands.... I wish I had learned that [player_tooltip player_id='1105216' first='Jacob' last='Pappas'] and his family share the same hometown as I (South Side stand up), for I would not be able to prevent my bias from covering him more. Pappas is a really good, solid receiver. Solid hands, good size, excellent athleticism, and even better film translated to a really strong camp performance. I fully expect more than just his one offer to come in shortly. Between a stud like Pappas and I both repping the same 'hood, something must be in the water.

Sometimes the deeper the throw, the more confident a player becomes. A quarterback's confidence must be through the roof when they throw deep to [player_tooltip player_id='1430743' first='Brett' last='Kunkel']. Obviously he has made coming down with deep balls look easy and routine, but Kunkel was also an acrobat of sorts. On a few occasions he made some just silly grabs you would not expect your average high school prospect to make.... Some prospects just cannot help themselves from taking reps on both sides of the ball despite signing up at one position. Case and point: [player_tooltip player_id='277164' first='Gianni' last='Pasqualone']. Pasqualone profiles as a tough and gritty target. During one rep I thought he lost a step and the defender was draped over him in prime position to play the ball. However, Pasqualone proved that when the ball is up for grabs it is fair game. After making a very good adjustment he came down with the ball. In the opinion of my Pennsylvania colleague [player_tooltip player_id='1685945' first='Vic' last='Castillo'], Pasqualone was a camp MVP candidate on both sides of the ball.

One receiver who likely has the most upside was [player_tooltip player_id='1083931' first='Tyshawn' last='Bailey Jr']. The Newark product had moments where he absolutely stood out like a sore thumb to everyone who laid witness. Being familiar with his game some, the rising sophomore is chalk-full of talent, ability, and potential. He might be one of those players who is a good candidate to make a big jump between their sophomore and junior season.... A prospect Coach Milich has been telling me about for a while now, [player_tooltip player_id='918994' first='Trey' last='McFadden'] was everyone's darling at the Stock Up Showcase. Although he is a receiver, I suspect that McFadden possesses the type of size that could create judge mismatches if he were an in-line tight end or had tight splits in the slot. Size aside, McFadden also is blessed with really good foot speed which would further foster such mismatches. These two traits, combined, allowed for him to separate early, often, and more than sufficiently to win the day.
