New Jersey is a unique state with unofficial battle lines drawn between the North, South, Central, West and Shore regions. With those distinctions comes bragging rights and a boat load of talent, regardless of where you're looking in the Garden State. Below is a look at five Wide Receivers from North Jersey in the class of 2029 that fans should know about.

Despite a broken collarbone robbing him of a large part of this season, Cherry is back practicing and is on his way back to help LP down the home stretch of the season. Between clips from the off-season and from the opening game of the season, it's clear to see how dangerous of a weapon he is when the ball is in his hands. While he is undersized at just 5-foot-4 and 130-pounds, he makes up for it with quickness. As he gets ready to advance into high school ball, he could blossom into an ideal Slot. Put him in motion, in the backfield or out wide for screens and he'll move the chains. If he continues to grow and keep the quickness, he'll continue to be a player for the opposing defenses to worry about.

Lewis is a taller, longer Wide Receiver/Defensive End prospect that has to be on the short list of most private schools in Northern New Jersey. On a team with several kids with similar heights, namely Zy and [player_tooltip player_id='1514948' first='Zyir' last='Wilson'], Lewis looks to be the tallest of the bunch. In the film I've seen of Lewis, he looks best-used split out wide, while running any deep route on the tree. With his ability as a basketball player too, he's a jump ball guy that can typically come down with it, if the pass is within his reach. He's going to need to work hard in the weight room to put on weight and get his body ready for the pounding of Friday night lights. If he's able to do that, he's going to be a guy.

As is the case with many of the state's top 2029 playmakers, when the ball is Hunter's hands, good things are going to happen. As are exciting things. After playing a lot of Running Back in previous season, Hunter and his reported 4.68 speed in the forty has been a terror as a Returner and Wide Receiver for the Bergen County Stars. With the ball in his hands, he plays with the balance and vision of a Running Back, for obvious reasons. There is room for improvement in the ways he tracks the ball while in the air, and that will likely come from simply more reps as a Wide Receiver--if he remains at the position. Wherever he ends up playing, he's a churn and burn kid that makes big plays.

There are some prospects that just flat out have "IT". As soon as I turned on the tape for Abdus-Salaam and watched a play or two, I put my feet up on the desk, sat back and just watching it. Though he's from Essex County, he suits up for The SHO, which is part of the Staten Island Hurricanes Organization (SHO) out of New York. He lists himself at 5-foot-10 and 135-pounds and while his size is unconfirmed, he plays significantly bigger than whatever his size is. I've talked to coaches and parents alike, who have seen a fair amount of travel ball in Tri-State Area and his name often comes up. No prospect is ever complete, especially on the pre-high school level, but [player_tooltip player_id='1530371' first='Yassen' last='Abdus-Salaam'] checks a ton of boxes for me when it comes to playing the Wide Receiver position at this stage.

In his second season as a member of the Silk City program, Mims has seemingly gone from a member of the team to one of the weapons on the outside that are more relied on. He reports himself up two inches and 10 pounds from last year's seventh-grade season, now at 6-foot and 145-pounds. In his mid-season film, there are several more-than-encouraging plays. His tape shows off the ability to make catches in the red zone, along the side line, deep downfield and in the quick game. With that said, the film is difficult to see in some situations, so I look forward to getting more opportunities to check out the Patterson native.
