It's the month of October and that means it's time for a prospect ranking update! Throughout this month, we'll be updating each class ranking and following up those updates with in-depth breakdowns on a ton of prospects in each class. This week, we kicked things off with the 2028 watchlist! Now, because these are just freshmen that are just halfway into their first varsity season, this is just a watchlist. Our first ranking of the 2028 class will come after the season when we have a full body of work to go off of. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at five more freshmen to know on the offensive side of the ball.

Mangum offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1054230' first='Aiden' last='Augustine'] was one of ten players that we featured before the season as a "Freshman To Watch" in 2024. Augustine was an offensive lineman that Mangum's coaches were excited about as he entered high school and would join the varsity ranks. Augustine has been that instant impact player for the Tigers and has helped them jump out to a 6-0 start and they are one of the top teams in Class A-2. Augustine also happens to be on the short list for the strongest prospect in this class. Some of his weight room numbers are already off the charts and they should only continue to climb from here.

Checotah has a handful of 2028 prospects that have already gotten on our radar so there's no doubt in our mind that the future is bright for the Wildcats. Offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1164571' first='Ashton' last='Newport'] is a player that got on our radar back in the offseason. He was one of the better offensive lineman standouts at our PRZ-Next camp in January and the first thing that stood out to us was his size, as he passed the eye test immediately. When we got another chance to see Newport in person, it was the spring and he was working with the varsity as a center. Checotah is having a terrific start to the season and like we mentioned, they should be good for a while.

Anadarko quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1164645' first='La'Zane' last='Owens'] is definitely a 2028 prospect that we're going to be keeping an eye on moving forward. Owens stood out to us at a PRZ-Next camp in the past and taking a look at some of his film, he's definitely a playmaker. Now, most of his film is from sub-varsity action but it won't be surprising to see him make the transition to Friday nights and the production look the same. Owens also has genetics on his side as his older brother was a standout on the basketball court for Anadarko a few years ago. Now, La'Zane is another 2028 prospect that is patiently waiting for his opportunity to compete on Friday nights.

Bartlesville quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1167484' first='Michael' last='Kent'] is a name that we're familiar with because of the PRZ-Next camp series. Kent would come out to a couple of our camps and each time, he's been a player that can spin the ball and has turned some heads. And after talking with a few coaches in the know, Kent definitely has a bright future but similar to Owens, he's patiently waiting for his opportunity at the varsity level. Bartlesville has a three-year starter at quarterback this season but starting in 2025 and beyond, don't be surprised to see Kent start to have an impact on Friday nights. Kent is one of several quarterbacks already on our radar.

Whenever a freshman is starting for Booker T Washington, it immediately gets our attention. And that's the case for offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1522526' first='Philip' last='Loadholt'] as he's starting for the Hornets at center this season. We got a chance to watch the Hornets in person last week in a game against Bishop Kelley and they definitely impressed on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Loadholt is the son of former OU offensive lineman Phil Loadholt, who's now the OL coach at Colorado. The Hornet freshman OL has stood out to his coaches and has a chance to continue growing his game moving forward. He's definitely a 2028 prospect to know.
