is the first of two Checotah Wildcats that are 2028 prospects to watch. Newport was on our radar before his freshman season after he stood out at one of our middle school camps. The Checotah big man has a lot of size that you simply can’t coach and while the overall skills are still raw in some areas, he has the potential to be really good by the end of his high school career. Newport measures in at 6’6 and 275 pounds and that gives the Wildcats a cornerstone on their offensive line for the next three seasons. As long as he continues to progress from a skill perspective, he’s going to be a prospect coaches need to know.

is a player that got on our radar back in the offseason. He was one of the better offensive lineman standouts at our PRZ-Next camp in January and the first thing that stood out to us was his size, as he passed the eye test immediately. When we got another chance to see Newport in person, it was the spring and he was working with the varsity as a center. Checotah is having a terrific start to the season and like we mentioned, they should be good for a while.

came into the camp listed as a defensive lineman but he was a standout on the offensive side of that line of scrimmage. Newport has been at Eufaula but has moved to Checotah and there’s a really good chance he makes an impact on the varsity level as a freshman this fall. Newport already looks the part physically. He measured in at 6’4 and it doesn’t look like he’s done growing. As he continues to get more athletic and quicker, he’s going to be a dangerous tackle prospect moving forward. On Sunday, you could see that Newport had a lot of potential to be a big player moving forward. He’s just scratching the surface on the lineman he’ll be when he gets to high school.
