We're already over halfway through the 2024 season in the blink of an eye and it's time to spotlight some of our ranked athletes. Here's an update on some of our ranked ATHs/QBs who have performed well to this point of the season.

2025 Hurricane QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='487103' first='Noah' last='Vellaithambi'] has been nothing short of dominant this season for the Redskins and appears to be the favorite to win the Kennedy Award as the state's top player if he finishes the season strong.

Vellaithambi has been electric with his arm and his legs this season throwing for 1,700 yards and 23 touchdowns to pair with 700 rushing yards and 12 more scores. He hasn't missed a beat since transitioning back to quarterback and has continued to be a dynamic runner from his time at running back last season. Vellaithambi is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses given his high-level versatility as an athlete who is a very good defender in his own right as well. We're looking forward to seeing which D1 program receives his services on Signing Day this winter as one of the state's best athletes the past few seasons.

Not far behind Vellaithambi in the Kennedy Award race in our eyes is 2025 Martinsburg QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='865706' first='Koi' last='Fagan'] who has done a great job this season stepping in at quarterback for the Bulldogs.

There are a lot of similarities between Fagan and Vellaithambi as the #1 and #1 ATH prospects in this class. Both athletes played mostly running back last season and are excelling as dual-threat quarterbacks in 2024. Fagan is coming off a 15/19 for 346 yards and 4 touchdowns along with 80 rushing yards and 2 more scores performance against Morgantown last week as he nears 1,000 yards a piece for passing and rushing. His breakaway speed is unmatched at the quarterback position in the state, and Fagan's arm talent shouldn't be overlooked either.

2025 Nitro QB [player_tooltip player_id='865701' first='Josh' last='Moody'] has continued where he left off from a highly successful junior year in 2023 and is still putting up video game numbers as a senior.

While he may be averaging fewer yards and touchdowns per game compared to last year, Moody has been a much more efficient passer as a senior and has raised his completion percentage by 7 to 70% through the first 7 games of the season. He's thrown for 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns thus far and is in the running for the House Award as the state's top quarterback this season. Moody is a polished passer who can spread the ball all over the field and can make all of the throws. Touch and accuracy are the strengths of his game and he's an underrated athlete who may not show up in the rushing stat sheet but is athletic enough to scramble and escape the pocket to extend plays and could take off and run when needed.

The Top 3 ATH prospects in the 2025 class are having special senior seasons thus far which includes Spring Mills QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='865709' first='Max' last='Anderson'].

The dual-threat quarterback has his Cardinals' team undefeated through their first six games and is playing at a high level with his arm and his legs. Anderson is playing the best football of his career, especially as a passer, and has his team in a position to have their best season in school history. His arm strength has been impressive on film with a good ability to stretch the field vertically. His versatility as a runner paired with his improvement as a passer forces defenses to cover the entire field. We believe Anderson is still flying under the radar relative to how much success he's had since his sophomore year and a big performance against Martinsburg next Friday could open more eyes to his game.

Another 2025 quarterback who is having an exceptional senior year is Fairmont Senior's [player_tooltip player_id='450993' first='Brody' last='Whitehair'].

He has the Polar Bears in contention for a second-straight potential state championship and on the shortlist for the House Award as well. Whitehair has thrown for 1,500 yards and 25 touchdowns in many shortened games due to score. He's a phenomenal athlete in his own right who could put up big rushing numbers as well if he was asked to as someone who runs in the 4.4 40 range. Whitehair appears to have progressed as a passer where he was already very good as a junior but has taken his game to the next level. He's throwing with touch and accuracy at a high level with improved arm strength to stretch the field and fire it over the middle. Whitehair does a great job leading his receivers and hitting them in stride which has aided his 72% completion percentage. he's received D2 and D1 PWO interest but an FCS school needs to enter the mix for his services with a scholarship offer.

Jefferson got off to a rough start this season but has battled back winning 3 of their last four games with 2025 QB [player_tooltip player_id='865700' first='Dylan' last='Harich'] beginning to showcase why we consider him a Top 5 quarterback in this class.

Harich had his breakout game of the year against Hedgesville two weeks ago where he threw for 380 yards and 5 touchdowns. The most intriguing aspect of his game and as a prospect is that Harich still hasn't gotten close to his potential as a passer. His mechanics can still be tweaked and improved to take his game to a new level but he gets it done in his own style. While he may be more unconventional than some of the other quarterbacks on this list, Harich can make throws from a variety of platforms sometimes out of necessity and other times as a result of his mechanics. Harich is still oftentimes able to put the ball where he wants it and could make a college program very happy if they're willing to be patient and spend the time developing him.

The Grafton Bearcats may not be having the season they had hoped for in 2024 but are clearly improved from a year ago as senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='865702' first='Cam' last='Foley'] is having his best season yet.

He's thrown for just over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns through 6 games this season and has improved his TD-to-INT ratio greatly with four games left to go. It's easy to overlook his play this year given the lack of team success in the W/L column, but Foley has shown he has the arm talent to play at a high level in college in time. Foley has quality arm strength that can stretch defenses on go balls and post routes. His mechanics and footwork are fluid which is a testimate of the work he's put in over the off-season with his QB trainer. Foley is also an underrated athlete who can move the pocket and throw accurately when rolling out and on the run as well. He'd be a steal at the D3 level if he ends up there, but we wouldn't be surprised if a D2 program takes a chance on him with clear potential to keep improving.
