Week 3: Elite Offensive Performances

He took Scottsburg up and down the field, didn't miss throws, and did a great job finding the open guy and getting the ball to him immediately. He finished the night going 16 for 21 for 308 yards and 5 TDs as they blew out Salem. Not only did he go nuclear this past Friday, but he's developing physically as well. He rushed for 266 yards and 3 TDs and then added 51 yards and a TD through the air. Hicks has great speed and if he sees an open lane the defense is in trouble. On the first play of the game last week he scored from 64 yards out. He ended the night with 150 yards and 2 TDs and then added a 66 yard pick-six. How you can rush for 325 yards in 1 game is beyond me, because I'd be out of gas. He carried the ball 44 times and got stronger as the game went on, which is even more impressive. He's got a nasty swing on the baseball field, but Friday night he went nuclear on the football field. Center Grove took on Kentucky's #1 ranked 6A program and stole an upset win in part because of the performance by McClurg. He set a school record with 238 yards and 11 receptions while scoring 2 TDs. The confidence is growing and he's making big plays. Last Friday, everything came together for him as he put up 230 receiving yards and a pair of TDs over Franklin Central. He's great after the catch and isn't easy to bring down. It's hard to see how efficient he was again Friday and not point it out. He's a 3-year starter that the team trusts. He helped Central beat Logansport 23-20 in a great game on Friday, but Metzger was clutch and dialed in when it counted most.
