I am incredibly glad that I traveled to Lansing to watch Everett host Detroit UofD Jesuit. This game featured several ranked players, most of which I've never seen play during a game. This matchup provided a ton of extremely valuable information on a lot of guys. So, here are my 10 evals!

Midway through the 3rd quarter, I saw UofD essentially give up on trying to tackle [player_tooltip player_id='567890' first='Javari' last='Funches'].

Before this game, I knew that Javari was a special athlete with many great physical traits. Last offseason, I loved what I saw from him on both sides of the ball, but many players play much differently in season than they do when in pajamas during the off-season.

Offensively, I saw great north-south power running in addition to a mean stiff arm. I really liked his contact balance and overall power all game, and It's a testament to his stamina that he could keep going at 100% on both sides of the ball all game.

Speaking of the other side of the ball, Javari had a great day on defense. He was playing fast and loose at Linebacker, racking up a great number of QB pressures.

I could go on and on, but just know that Javari had an incredible game. I very firmly believe that Javari is going to be a high-tier Division 2 prospect next offseason. The one and only thing holding him back from those D1 offers in my opinion will be his speed.

https://twitter.com/alex_pallone/status/1832046298175770655

Kharon impressed me last night. As you can see from his current ranking, he's currently listed as a D3 prospect. Although zero GLIAC schools offered him this offseason, they might want to consider his in-season performances.

What I saw was a physical two-way player who gets off the ball quickly, wins with speed, can block on offense, and has the stamina to go four quarters. Kharon was a big reason why UofD couldn't get anything going on offense, and he definitely deserves another look from colleges.

Another KEY player for Everett, Nizjai had a very good day at the quarterback position. Whenever Nizjai had the opportunity to stand in the pocket and throw, he made mostly great decisions with mostly excellent accuracy. Looking back, he was asked to throw the football quite a bit and I'm generally very impressed with how accurate and decisive he was. He also did a solid job at picking up yards with his feet but most of his production came through the air.

Finally, Nizjai had a great defensive game, multiple pass breakups, a near-interception, and overall very good effort from start to finish. Just look at the supercut below- Nizjai made a TON of great plays!

I am a little surprised that Nizjai only has a few offers. From yesterday's performance, I'd expect a few interested GLIAC programs alongside the entire MIAA sending out offers.

https://twitter.com/alex_pallone/status/1832054146309964278

Logick left the game fairly early with a (ankle?) injury. I saw only a small sample size of what Logick could do, but when he was out there, he was immensely impactful. Playing defensive tackle, Logick bullied what was a largely timid UofD offensive line. He got off the ball quickly and won early with his superior physicality.

Time will tell how severe the injury is and if Logick will be able to make consistent impacts on both sides of the ball. From the eye test and the small sample size, it seems like Logick will remain a very key player for this team. I'm excited to see what he does, and he's 100% looking like a college prospect for next Spring.

I liked what I saw from Mason. It was my first time watching Mason in person at a game, and I quite honestly went in with zero expectations.

Offensively, he was utilized a good amount and got consistent touches in different ways. When running routes downfield, Mason was getting consistently open. If Mason ran a streak, post, or really anything downfield, he got separation. He also received the ball on a few screens/slants. Aside from a couple of drops, Mason made the most of his all his targets. It's also notable that Mason started at Safety, and was involved in a few pass defenses. All in all, I agree with the GLIAC evaluation and I think Mason will have a chance to be great at Saginaw Valley State.

Eugene was someone that I didn't have on my radar at all heading into this game. After several great plays, I had to include him on this list.

There was a string of two plays in particular that stood out. On the first play, Eugene engaged himself with a gang tackle and was almost able to strip the ball. The very next play, Eugene successfully strips the ball and forces a massive loss of yardage for the offense. At the end of the day, Eugene finished with several tackles and a few PBUs on defense in addition to some good targets on offense. (and a 50-yard TD reception)

Eugene played exceptionally well in a game that Everett was not supposed to win. I see that Eugene has offers from Siena Heights and Adrian- which I think are two incredible fits.

It wasn't long ago that I heard of Brady's transfer to UofD Jesuit. I was quite excited to watch Brady play for the Cubs, as I've only seen him in off-season workouts.

First off, it was clear that Brady was the most talented passer on UofD. From a pure pocket-passing perspective, Brady threw the prettiest ball and has the best arm talent.

On the other hand, Brady struggled with running the offense. Part of it was that the offense just wasn't working, but a little bit of it is also on Brady. When he threw the ball downfield, it was ususally with good accuracy and placement. Sometimes, he'd struggle to get the ball out on time and there were some inaccurate throws. I expected a bit more from Brady, and I hope to see more as the season continues to roll along.

Kellen was one of the bright spots for this UofD team. In fact, UofD's only touchdown came from a high-effort punt return from Kellen.

Offensively, Kellen did well at receiver. Off the top of my head, Kellen had one bad drop but mostly ran good routes all game. He didn't get a ton of offensive opportunities, but when he was targeted, he did more with the opportunity than most others.

Defensively, Kellen was one of the more willing tacklers. Although I thought he could have run to the ball quicker, he didn't play scared if a tackle opportunity presented itself. He even had one BIG hit on Javari at the end of the game, which was promising to see.

Kellen is obviously a very talented freshman for UofD. If he continues the upward trend, he'll have a great season, and he'll be in for a major breakout year in 2025 at either Safety or Receiver.

Zachary was largely on-par with my expectations.

On a defense that looked extremely lackadaisical, Zachary was one of the only players who seemed to give good, consistent effort. He's a big lineman who can easily beat most blockers with his physicality. Zachary had several tackles alongside quite a few QB pressures. Good day for him.

Malcomb came in at Quarterback pretty early in the game. Although the offense still struggled, Malcomb showed some flashes of what he's capable of.

In short, he's a great athlete with a currently average arm and processing ability. Malcomb has the athletic foundation to be a true dual-threat, and he should look to use his legs maybe a tad bit more. In terms of passing, Malcomb looked a bit flustered out there, which definitely affected his accuracy.
