Breaking down the Top Week 2 Performances in West MI

We saw some West Michigan teams put up huge wins against the east side, and we saw a few brand-new players break out. His size makes him an ideal physical outside receiver who can win you those jump balls. On a few occasions, that's exactly what he did. On his second highlight, Tyler shows good concentration pulling in the back shoulder fade. His third highlight is the most impressive in my opinion, as Tyler gains a ton of YAC on the short reception over the middle. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On top of his good day at receiver, Tyler had a few tackles on defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This offseason proved that Tyler is an insanely high-upside prospect. First off, he's RB1 without a doubt. Over 30 touches, 185 yards, and 3TDs is an impressive stat line. But how'd he do it? </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Between the tackles, David is patient and strong. He did a great job of following his blocks and breaking tackles once he got to the second level. I'd call David a 3-down between-the-tackles RB, and he's quite good in that role. Offensively, he was unbeatable deep downfield. On two occasions, he got wide open with streaking routes downfield and converted those into TDs. He also had a punt return for a TD.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Defensively, Isaac had an acrobatic interception (0:39) in addition to many instances of great man-to-man coverage. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I know I mostly just recounted Isaac's plays, but I definitely see some improvement since last season. Isaac looks more explosive and as reactive/twitchy as ever. He's a dude with great play instincts, and the athleticism to out-perform 98% of high school players. After catching the screen, all Carter had to do was sprint in a straight line to the endzone, outrunning all defenders. The very next highlight, Carter takes the top off of the defense with a sensational post route. From those alone, I'm very intrigued to see what Carter's 40 time and other testing numbers might be. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rest of the week 2 tape shows carter run a few solid comebacks in addition to some good blocking. First off, I like that Landon is getting the ball out quickly, much of the time from the pocket. Even when he does roll out of the pocket, it's more often than not designed, and he still delivers a quick strike. As for accuracy, I'd call all of his highlights very accurate throws. Knowing he went 11/13 during this game, it's safe to say that Landon was very accurate all night long. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Moving forward, I'd love to see many more performances like this.
