Listen, I definitely see why David won the RB job. His best traits come with his physicality. There were a few nasty stiff arms and other uses of good contact balance. On top of that, he follows his blocks and runs nearly perfectly within the structure of the offense. David consistently broke tackles and earned extra yardage but didn’t have that elite athleticism needed to break those for TDs.
Nitpicks aside, David is an excellent running back and among the best I know of in Division 5.

I need to catch a West Catholic game at some point this season.
West Catholic is doing great, and part of the reason why is RB

. First off, he’s RB1 without a doubt. Over 30 touches, 185 yards, and 3TDs is an impressive stat line. But how’d he do it?
Between the tackles, David is patient and strong. He did a great job of following his blocks and breaking tackles once he got to the second level. I’d call David a 3-down between-the-tackles RB, and he’s quite good in that role. Just look at the play at 0:40- David catches the swing pass, and shows some open-field athleticism followed by excellent contact balance.
I’m very impressed with David’s stats, on top of having 30+ touches while also playing a full game on defense.

Honestly, I’m expecting David to move up in the next update. Last season, he was a great gadget player for a super-talented West Catholic team. From beginning to end, David’s tape shows great effort and physicality. As a running back, David runs north-south and is oftentimes able to shed a tackle or two. As a linebacker, David aggressively sheds blocks and stops the ballcarrier in his tracks.
Moving forward, I need to see a little more twitchiness and overall athleticism. When running, David looks a bit stiff. At linebacker, he sometimes loses a step while reading the play. He has all the tools to be a good college prospect, he’s just got to go get it.
