Week Two ...#TNHSFB

Ensworth (1-0) at MBA (1-0)

- Both these D2-Class AAA programs kicked off their season's with victories but somebody must take a loss here. Ensworth had an easy win over Tenn. Heat while the Big Red hit a 53 yard field goal at the buzzer to knock off Pearl Cohn. It was a big win for MBA and it showed how legit they could be. College talent will be all over the field in this contest with highlighted players being [player_tooltip player_id='219447' first='Ethan' last='Utley'], [player_tooltip player_id='688833' first='Hugh' last='Price'] and others. The Big Red will have the edge on offense but the Tigers bring one of the best defenses in the state to campus, so something has to give.

- - - - -

Lausanne (1-0) at Bartlett (1-0)

- Two weeks in a row, the Panthers take on a power from the private ranks with this matchup going against Lausanne. The Lynx come to town after an impressive opening win that saw [player_tooltip player_id='860627' first='Jawell' last='Rodgers'] become their go-to guy and he will be someone the Panthers must key on in this game. Bartlett had one of the more impressive wins in Week One as they defeated MUS, 41-17. The Panthers are a well balanced team with a star in [player_tooltip player_id='1002741' first='Geron' last='Johnson'] that I don't know if the Lynx have a defense to slow him down. If they can find a way, Lausanne may be there with a chance in the fourth quarter.

- - - - -

Anderson Co. (1-0) at Science Hill (1-0)

- This could be a good one with either team walking away with the win. Anderson Co. had to hold off Powell but they got the job done while Science Hill was impressive in Week One, defeating Elizabethton, 35-14. The Mavs had an up and down affair against the Panthers but received some strong individual performances that bode well for the future, especially from [player_tooltip player_id='497426' first='Israel' last='Small']. Anderson Co. has the potential to be potent on offense with more consistency. The Hilltoppers are led by [player_tooltip player_id='842802' first='Baylor' last='Necessary'] and their defense, which I believe will be the difference maker in this close, hard fought contest.

- - - - -

DCA (1-0) at Friendship Christian (1-0)

- Even though this is a non-region matchup, this is a big game in Week Two that will show everybody involved if they are state title caliber or not. Both DCA and Friendship have aspirations for a D2-Class A title and both have a great shot at pulling it off. These two squads are coming off commanding wins last week with the Wildcats offense, led by [player_tooltip player_id='445181' first='Mitchell' last='Carey'], being highly explosive while the Commanders defense stood out as a formidable unit. Keep an eye on Car'lando Barton and his pressure against Carey. If he and the Commanders are able to do so on a consistent basis, the home might ride to the house with a victory.

- - - - -

CPA (1-0) at Pearl Cohn (0-1)

- Last week was a heartbreaker for Pearl but I guarantee you they are not down and out and ready for this week's challenge. CPA presents a different problem for the Firebirds as the Lions will look to run the ball early and often while sprinkling in the pass. Pearl Cohn has the defense to keep up with [player_tooltip player_id='1335216' first='Rawls' last='Patterson'] and the Lions potent rushing attack but it's still a challenge. The athleticism that the Firebirds present on offense might be the difference maker in what should be one of the better games in the state for Week Two.

- - - - -

Jefferson Co. (1-0) at Sevier Co. (1-0)

- This could be the best game coming out of the East TN region this week. Both teams had impressive wins in Week One with both having their star players shining bright. Patriots seniors [player_tooltip player_id='504236' first='Nic' last='Moore'] and [player_tooltip player_id='848834' first='Skylar' last='Thomas'] had outstanding opening performances and so did [player_tooltip player_id='1142902' first='Cooper' last='Newman'], [player_tooltip player_id='616543' first='Otto' last='VanRensburg'] and the Smoky Bears offense. Defense I feel will be the key in this one. The Patriots allowed 31 points last week to Oak Ridge and face a near similar attack with Sevier Co. this Friday. Whichever defense can get off the field more often as well as create turnovers will gain the edge in this outstanding matchup.

- - - - -

Collierville (1-0) at Beech (1-0)

- These two teams met last year down in Memphis where Collierville took the win but it's a new year and two different teams with the home squad coming in as the favorite. The Dragons had a solid victory over Riverside as did Beech in their 33-17 victory over Station Camp. The home Buccaneers are ultra talented with their eyes on a 5A title while the Dragons bring a team that is definitely under the radar right now with a talented quarterback in [player_tooltip player_id='1177637' first='Grant' last='Troutman']. Beech will have the edge in this contest due to overall talent but they can't sleep on Collierville as they aren't not immune to tough competition.

- - - - -

Cleveland (1-0) at McMinn Co. (1-0)

- For the second week in a row, the Cherokees get to face a team from Bradley County and a familiar foe in Cleveland that is coming off a commanding win over Clinton. This should be a different challenge for McMinn Co. but an opportunity to continue proving their worth. The Blue Raiders bring a talented offense to town, led by Richmond commit [player_tooltip player_id='219362' first='Isaiah' last='Davis'] and a defense that could be stout with [player_tooltip player_id='927765' first='A.J.' last='Westfield'] up front. McMinn Co. has a solid defense to compete with Cleveland and an O-line, led by [player_tooltip player_id='402530' first='Camden' last='Goforth'] to combat Westfield and the Blue Raiders front seven. This should be a fun one that goes down to the wire.

- - - - -

Dobyns-Bennett (1-0) at Greeneville (1-0)

- Coming off one of the more impressive wins in Week One, Dobyns-Bennett is looking to continue their winning ways but it will be tough as they take on one of the best 4A teams in the state in Greeneville. The home Green Devils bring a well balanced team to the field with an efficient offense, led by [player_tooltip player_id='841187' first='Brandon' last='Iezzi'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1181026' first='Zaydyn' last='Anderson'] as well as one of the better defenses in the East TN region. The Indians have a tough call upon them on Friday but they tend to play up to their competition, so you can't write them off here. If they can play ball control offense, running the clock while their defense plays stout, Dobyns-Bennett could walk away with the upset.

- - - - -

Clarksville (1-0) at Springfield (1-0)

- One of the more sneaky good contests taking place in Week Two is this next door neighbor battle between Clarksville and Springfield. Their respective counties sit next to each other in the Northern Mid-TN region and both come into this matchup after big opening season victories, so both should be geared up to play. The home Yellow Jackets will look to run the ball early and often with Keenan Chatman and [player_tooltip player_id='1134310' first='Jaidon' last='Hurst'] as will Clarksville with their Mr. Football contending back in [player_tooltip player_id='1240402' first='James' last='Dalrymple']. Whichever defense can slow down the opposition's run game will gain the edge in moving towards 2-0.
