PRZMD Team Preview: Milford Mill Millers

<p>Here we take a look at MD power house, the Milford Mill Millers. Lead by Coach Reggie White, the Millers look to return to the State Championship game after falling to eventual 2A champions Stephen Decatur by 1 point in the semi-finals. They finished 9-2 in the regular season and look to replicate that this fall, if not improve on it. Milford Mill comes into the 2024 season with a lot of size along the line, a lot of athleticism all over the field, and a very strong DB group. MMA is lead by a great coaching staff and I expect them to make a strong playoff run once again and be a top team in the 2A. </p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Khalil is a player I've been following for a few years now. Started at SFA before transferring to Milford for the 2023 season and was part of a massive, dominant OL for MMA last season. Holding 10 total Power 4/FBS offers, Khalil looks to be a top 2025 recruit still left uncommitted.</p>   <p>A massive offensive lineman, Khalil towers over you at a legit 6'6". He is physical mauler type lineman. A war daddy in the trenches that bullies defenders. Once he gets his hands in the defenders chest it's over, consistently driving them out of the play or putting them in the dirt. Does show a quick kick step and good feet at the LOS for someone his size. Great kid too from every experience I've had with him. Khalil is set to have another strong season for Milford Mill and will be a key piece in how far this team goes. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/iamkjw75 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Amory is another massive body along Milford's dominatn Oline, standing 6'5" and 300lbs+. He held double digit offers before committing to Maryland this summer.</p>   <p>A big guard, Hills can move for his size, he has good bend and pop/punch off the snap. A strong kid, he's a mauler who plays with some nasty. Drives defenders and throws them out the club, finishes and plays through the whistle. Amory is also a multi-sport kid as he has been a 2x state finalist heavyweight wrestler for Milford. That wrestling skill set shows on the field with this power and mobility. Amory shows good feet, plays on his toes and can get out in space on screens & pulls. A high level athlete for his position with that size and strength, no wonder he is a top 5 overall OL in his class.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/BIGACEEEEEEE </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Damon comes in as the top ATH prospect in his class and the #8 overall 2026 prospect in MD/DC/DE area. He holds a total of 20 Power 4/FBS offers and I only expect that number to increase. I see Damon having a standout season and gaining even more national recruiting attention. </p>   <p>A playmaker on both sides of the ball at RB & CB, Damon rushed for 739 yds with 8 TDs and on D recorded 2 INTs with 5 PBUs. A good frame and well put together kid, he's got nice lean muscle that will fill out nicely with yoked up build. Damon has top level speed being a track sprinter as well. He has a 100M PR of 10.89, while also running the 200M, 400M, and Long Jump. That speed shows on film, as he is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. On offense, Damon runs hard behind his pads. Hits the hole and goes, if he gets a lane he is taking it for a big play. One defense he displays twitchy hips, quick feet with fluid movement in & out of transitions. Damon is an impact player on both sides of the ball and will be a highlighted player on the scouting report for all of Milford's opponents this year.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/roll5damon/status/1793448213854220554 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Koby has been a favorite player of mine since seeing him as a freshman. Talk about looking the part, he is all of 6'2" and rocked up. Had added ~25lbs. of muscle from freshman year to the start of last season, and he will continue to add great bulk to that frame. </p>   <p>At CB, Koby is incredibly smooth and fluid in his movements, flipping his hips and riding the receivers hips and being able to quickly COD. He uses his size and elite length well, getting into correct positions and getting his hands on the ball for a lot of PBUs. A high level overall athlete, Koby has a nice long stride and is a strong leaper, able to go up and get the ball at the highest point. Koby is a physical DB as well, strong jam at the LOS and will through his body into the play. With his size, athleticism and physical style it is no wonder opposing team just straight up avoid throwing to size of the field. Koby is a player that should garner national attention in my mind as a DB who could also develop into a hybrid S at the next level.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/1biggerkoby </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Darius comes to MMA after playing at Good Counsel last season where I was able to see him play live a few times during the fall. He is a versatile CB who can play outside or in the slot and made 2nd Team All-WCAC. Darius currently holds a double digit FBS/FCS offers, and I feel he can be a late Power 4 offer kid with a strong season campaign. </p>   <p>A lockdown twitchy and dynamic CB, Darius has excellent technique and instincts. He has impressive length for his height with a 75" wingspan, and he knows how to use said length. He shows good ball skills, stays in phase with the WR, and can jump the route to make a play. Collins has real oily hips, able to switch directions quickly with no loss of momentum. He tracks the ball well and knows when to attack it, always getting his hands on the pass for PBUs/INTs. A versatile DB who can play press man / off zone / in the slot, look for Darius to have a big impact for this Milford squad this season.<br></p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/DARIUS_COLLINS_/status/1728087465896849707 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Derrell is possibly Milford Mill's biggest playmaker from the receiver position. He totaled over 600 yards and 4 td's last season, and averaged 17.5. ypc. He is a big play threat and currently holds two FCS offers, and don't be shocked if more come his way this fall.</p>   <p>A vertical playmaker, Derrell has nice burst of the snap and able to get up to top speed quickly to pass by the DB. He has a fluid long stride, eating up ground to stretch the field. At the National Preps Spring Showcase this fall, he flashed real nice footwork and the ability to break down/drop his hips, and quickly change directions. This leads to him running crisp routes and a versatile route tree. Derrell has a lot of plays where he beats the defense on go routes, but I expect him to show more of his route running this season after what I've seen of him this summer. A good size X receiver, Derrell is able to use his frame to position himself well for the ball. Can go across the middle as well as going up to high point the ball, showing natural hands. Derrell is still an under rated prospect in my mind a name you need to know going into this season.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Dpierson9_/status/1795282985794871400 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Matt is a player I got to see live this summer at some showcases and was impressed with his play. I except him to be a key piece along the DL for Milford. Last season, King recorded 36 tkls, 9 tfls, and 5 sacks..really nice numbers for a DT. Currently he holds no offers but expect some FCS/D2 schools to come calling this fall. </p>   <p>At DT, Matt is an explosive player, with a quick first step of the snap and consistency making plays in the backfield. He has a high motor with good energy and competitiveness. Matt is not one to quit on a play and with chase down ball carriers. An impressive collection of rush moves, he show really active hands and can slap away, rip, push pull past the OL. Matt is poised for a big senior year and his ability to interior rush makes life a lot easier for all those DB's Milford has. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/1lorslick/status/1741882293109526878 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">TJ is another DB transfer into Milford Mill, and I player I have seen since his freshman year at Boys Latin. He currently holds a handful of D1 offers and should take the next step as a recruit/player this season.</p>   <p>Another long, lean, physical DB for Milford, I can see TJ being used in a lot of ways this fall. Mainly playing as CB, I can see him moving around playing some CB/SS as he is a strong tackler. TJ has a good frame that should get up close to 200lbs by the time of his senior season and nice length in the arms. He is physical and will lay the wood on ball carriers. TJ can play up close to the LOS or back off in coverage and be successful in both. I like the versatility in TJ's game and should be a key piece of Milford's defense this season.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/thetjturner </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">A do it all player for Milford Mill, James gets impactful minutes on both sides of the ball at WR & DB. I expect James to take the next step as big time playmaker for the Millers this season.</p>   <p>Shifty and dynamic as a WR, James can play outside or in the slot as he is able to use his quickness to create his own space. He has quick feet and able to chop and breakdown to make strong cuts and stem his routes. James also had a good showing at the National Preps Spring Showcase, shining in 1v1's. He showed real strong route running and the ability to make the tough/spectacular catch. James tracks the ball real well and will go up and snatch it. He can also contribute as a FS on the defensive side as well. He's a good body player, thick build kid able to take a hit and keep going. As a QB he will be able to use his athleticism to his advantage well. I can see him extending the play, scrambling for yards and making big plays on QB designed runs. Owen gets good zip on his ball and is able to get good air on it to drop it over the LBs.
