This class is not yet big enough to do position breakdowns of each position because not many freshmen play on varsity in New York, and plenty of freshmen have played varsity ball but lack the film to be evaluated. This running back class looks like one of the most impressive position/class groups to come out of New York. A couple of WR classes in the past few years have impressed me, in addition to a couple of strong OL classes coming from New York. This class has a lot of time to go, and if I were a betting man, some of these prospects would end their careers outside of New York State.

Kimble is the clear #1 guy in the 2027 class right now, and it comes from the massive freshman season he had for Canisius, where he was named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American.

Kimble is a very powerful runner; at 180, he has room to grow and add even more strength. On tape, Kimble shows great contact balance. He runs with a relentless motor and shows explosive movements between the tackles. Kimble has the best all-around ability of this group, the combination of power, speed, and elusiveness are up there with any back in the northeast.

Bala has a super high ceiling, and the St. Anthony's RB prospect picked up multiple offers through strong camp performances this season. Bala led the Friars in yards per attempt at the RB position despite seeing carries in five games.

The film is solid for a freshman. Bala is extremely agile, shows very good lateral movements, and can make guys miss with jump cuts. He has strong measurables and has made a considerable step forward in his development as an athlete since the end of last season. Bala is also a former PRZ Next NY/NJ camp MVP.

Clark Jr burst onto the scene for a Lackawanna team filled with talent and took the offense to another level. Clark Jr averaged a crazy 12 yards per carry and on film had no shortage of explosive plays (20+ yard plays)

Clark Jr is really shifty and can make guys miss in space but he excels getting through traffic with subtle cuts and great vision. He runs hard and consistently breaks through arm tackles but does a great job of finding and attacking open space.

There is a lot of RB talent, but none of these backs have the speed Brown has. The Tottenville RB is a part of the most dangerous RB duo in New York and a dominant sprinter who has run sub 10.7 100m and sub 6.6 55m on the track.

Brown may be a smaller back, but he is already muscular and likely has the ability to push 200lbs at the next level. Brown has elite breakaway speed. Brown is a level above opponents and RBs on this list when it comes to burst and explosiveness. His athleticism jumps off the screen on film.

Rush-Henrietta had a lot of youth at important positions last year and fought through a tough season and the brightest spot of last year was what we saw from Medina in his first season on varsity.

Medina runs with a physical, relentless motor and excels in dragging defenders for extra yards. He has great measurables for the style of runner he is, and, from the looks of his body type on film, will probably leave HS 200+ pounds. Medina has some strong freshman stuff and has the ability to be a dominant workhorse back in Section V.

Gomez is the main back of a strong 1-2 punch at Curtis and he provides the style of running the excels on early downs and in short yardage/redzone areas. Gomez has solid measurables and the ability to hit the 5'10 200+ mark before leaving HS.

Gomez is a physical shoulder defender's chest type of runner; there is not a player who shows a more violent running style on tape than Gomez. For a player of his size and physical running style he does flash some quick feet and the ability to sidestep or make quick cuts outside and get good angles towards the sidelines.

Marshall III is the biggest RB on this list at 6' 210lbs already heading into his sophomore season. While he may not have the production or even quality of film as some of the other RB prospects may have but he flashes some quality stuff on tape.

Marshall III has a variety of film, you see solid blocking reps in both the pass and run game in addition to several touches and even some defensive plays at LB. With the ball in his hands, Marshall III avoids defenders more than he runs through them, but he consistently falls forward and is able to get a couple of extra yards with effort and size alone. He shows good movement skills for a back his size and has a lot of room to grow his game.

Simpson does not have much social media presence, but he was a solid performer for Pine Bush last season and is one of the better young talents in Section 9 overall.

Simpson picked up 50 carries in a Wing-T backfield that featured a couple of upperclassmen, and he played primarily in the FB position. Simpson has solid size but looks much stronger and bigger than his listed 190. Simpson is a solid blocker who hits more hits and strikes than maintains his blocks, but at his position, most of his reps that is all that is needed. He is an interesting athlete with RB potential in an offense that allows for some solid blocking reps if he turns into a full-time FB or H-Back.
