We're abreviating our stock-risers series for the 2027 class, releasing two positions a day to finish before the season starts later this week. Earlier, I looked at the 2027 quarterback stock-risers and now it's time to look at the running backs. It's early, but I think the running backs might be the best position group of this class, with several guys we're already extremely high on.

Brown is one of those players with whom you can very clearly draw a line between performance in the weight room and performance on the field. He has an extremely strong lower body which leads to a lot of broken tackles and an ability to drive the pile. He's moving to a new offense at Rolesville this year where he should feature heavily. If all checks out, he's probably due for another rankings bump in December.

While it'd certainly be easier to list him as an athlete, Magwood is explosive enough as a runner to justify putting him as a running back in our system, even if he plays other positions as well. Part of the reason we have him at running back is his natural vision, something people don't think of when someone gets an "athlete" designation. Magwood is patient and trusts his ability to break away late, allowing him to pick up a minimum of 2-3 yards a carry and still break off long runs.

If you're looking for a guy to have a breakout season at running back, look no further than Lindsay, who moves over from Kings Mountain. He's a compact runner with excellent pad level and if defenses aren't careful, he'll just bounce off tacklers. We loved him when we saw him at our Prep Redzone camp and we're extremely high on his upside.

New Bern's running game is set for years to come. Best is one of two dynamic backs and plays his role well. He's quick to the hole and explodes out of his stance. It doesn't take him long to get to full speed and he can outrun most defenses. He flashes good power and consistently runs through arm tackles. His vision is fair good and he's not afraid to create his own hole if needed.
