Expert Analysis

Clem is one of our top small-school prospects in the class, regardless of position. He’s a bigger back with plenty of strength and explosion in his legs, and that shows up on tape. He had plenty of big runs for Murphy last season, rushing for over 1,700 yards for the second-straight year, this time on 35 fewer carries. His burst is better than his long speed, but he still has the burners to break away from defenders and finish long runs off for touchdowns.

With 1723 rushing yards this past season and 30 touchdowns on the ground, Cameron was statistically one of the best running backs in the state last season. Obviously, with that kind of production, Cameron has a workhorse mentality and the physical ability to continue to carry the load for a run-heavy attack. I like his size at 6’2 and 215 pounds, and we’ve had him pretty highly ranked overall for a while now. Campbell was the first school to offer Cameron, and I think he definitely has the ability to be a productive back on the next level.

Clem is one of our favorite running backs in the state, regardless of the size of his school. His film is electric, and he’s making waves on the recruiting trail at summer camps this year. Clem has home run speed, as evidenced by multiple long touchdown runs, including a 99-yarder against Highland Tech last season. I’d like to see him add about 10-15 more pounds as I think that’d really help his college stock.

Size and smarts are the first thing you love about Clem – per his Twitter profile he is up to 190 pounds at 6’1. He also reports a 4.125 GPA, very impressive. On the field, Cameron does a good job of setting up his blocks and cutting off of them into space. In the open field, Cameron has good speed – but as he continues to develop I would expect his speed to improve and he will finish some of the runs that he doesn’t get into the end zone at the moment. I also like Clem’s ability to run through weak tackles already – a very good sign for his future.
