The Tuttle Tigers were once again one of the best teams in Class 4A during the 2023 season. The year ended with a 9-3 record and they lost in the quarterfinals to fellow powerhouse Wagoner. The season began with a tough non-district loss to 5A power Guthrie but they rolled in their other non-district games. In week six, the Tigers hit the road to face off with Blanchard and this has quickly turned into one of the marquee games in Class 4A. But the 2023 meeting was one to forget as the Tigers struggled with turnovers and lost 20-6. However, the Tigers would win out to close the regular season and carried some momentum into the playoffs. They scored a very impressive 48-21 win over Weatherford in the first round before falling to a tough Wagoner squad on the road in the quarterfinals. The 2023 season was head coach Brad Ballard's tenth season as head coach of the Tigers. And that first round win over Weatherford was his 100th win since becoming Tuttle's head coach. They've averaged ten wins per season since he took over and show no signs of slowing down as we start to look ahead to the 2024 season.

2024 OUTLOOK

Tuttle is once again in the mix in Class 4A but they also find themselves in a much more competitive Class 4A this season. This has been a class that has been dominated by the traditional powerhouses over the last decade but this season, it feels deeper than ever before. Tuttle only brings back four starters on the offensive side of the ball and another four starters on the defensive side. But they also got several key move-ins this offseason that will give them a significant boost, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. On offense, they have the firepower to be one of the top units in Class 4A. They need to come together on the offensive line but the skill positions look really strong. On defense, it's a similar story where they look inexperienced on paper but they also have quite a bit of talent that's ready to break out. The Tigers expect to contend for the state championship but if they punch their ticket to the playoffs, they'll extend an impressive streak. Tuttle has been to the playoffs in each of the last 33 seasons. The 1990 season was the last time Tuttle didn't participate in the playoffs and only Cascia Hall, Jenks and Union have longer active playoff streaks.

Tuttle senior [player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='Mcadoo'] has been one of the more dynamic players in Class 4A football for a long time now. As of now, Mcadoo is listed on the roster as a wide receiver and defensive back but there is no doubt that he's one of the top athletes out there as soon as he steps on the field. Mcadoo has impressed us every time we've seen him in person. And honestly, we can't figure out which position or even which side of the ball he performs better on. There's a lot of versatility in Mcadoo's game and in Tuttle's new look offense, we anticipate him to be a big part of that production. In whatever way fits, depending on the opponent. He's an underrated gem in the state's 2025 class.

Earlier we talked about the key move-ins this offseason on offense and junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='473754' first='Cruz' last='Campbell'] is at the top of the list. After starting for two seasons at Southmoore, Campbell has moved to Tuttle and is expected to take the Tigers to new heights this fall. We got a chance to watch Campbell a handful of times this offseason and he really opened our eyes. This is one of the best quarterbacks in Oklahoma's 2026 class and if he plays like that this season, the Tigers are going to be serious state title contenders and have one of the best offenses in Class 4A football. Campbell still has to go out there and do it this fall but we really liked what we saw from him this offseason.

We mentioned earlier in the preview that we have no questions about the skill positions for Tuttle. And that the offensive line was going to have to grow up quickly and come together if the Tigers are going to contend in 4A this year. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1330230' first='Garrett' last='Rogers'] is one of those guys that we expect to take on a new role within the Tuttle offense and specifically on the offensive line. Rogers also plays on the defensive side of the ball but it's what he can be for Tuttle on offense that makes him a player to watch going into the 2024 season. If Rogers and this offensive line group can gel quickly as they go into district play, the Tigers will be a tough team to stop this fall.

Tuttle senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1330233' first='Luke' last='Fallwell'] is a player that we're very excited to see this season within this new high-powered Tuttle offense. Fallwell is expected to be one of the main guys from a production standpoint, specifically in the running game. He returns at the running back position and while that's going to be where most of the fireworks are, don't forget about what he brings to the table on the defensive side of the ball as a linebacker. Fallwell could very well be an X-Factor for the Tigers and be very similar to a player like McAdoo where he provides an impact in multiple areas of the game. He had a solid junior season and is hungry for more in 2024.

2024 SCHEDULE/GAMES TO CIRCLE

Aug. 29th - AT Guthrie
- Tuttle opens the 2024 season on the road and it doesn't get much bigger for a season opener. They'll face off with 5A perennial powerhouse Guthrie and visit historic Jelsma Stadium, otherwise known as “The Rock” just north of Oklahoma City. While this game doesn't have any playoff implications for either team, it will tell us a lot about both. And both teams have similar stories coming into this season. They have a ton of talent but it's also inexperienced for now.
Sept. 6th - AT Newcastle
- In week one, the Tigers go back on the road to face Newcastle in another intriguing non-district clash. The Racers used to be a district foe and now these two teams will square off earlier in the season. And at the beginning of the year, this was still a match-up featuring 4A playoff contenders but Newcastle was actually bumped up to Class 5A during the redistricting shuffle in April. The Tigers edged out the Racers 14-13 in their meeting during the 2023 season.
Sept. 13th - Noble
Sept. 27th - AT Ardmore
Oct. 4th - Madill
Oct. 11th - AT Bethany
Oct. 17th - Tecumseh
Oct. 25th - Blanchard
- This one has been circled on the calendar for a while now for Tiger fans but they'll have to wait until week eight to face the reigning 4A champions. In 2022, Blanchard stunned Tuttle with a last second touchdown. In 2023, the Tigers lost a turnover-plagued district contest that gave the Lions the edge in the district title race. Blanchard went on to win the state title and that's a crown that Tuttle is hungry to take back. Their pursuit of the 4A gold ball could truly begin with this contest at home.
Nov. 1st - AT Chickasha
Nov. 8th - Harrah

NOTABLE

We've mentioned often how the Tigers are one of the more dominant teams in Class 4A over the last decade and they have the numbers to back it up. In the last six seasons, Tuttle has a record of 66-11 and one state championship back in 2018. Year after year, the Tigers are in the elite company of the class with the likes of Clinton, Poteau and Wagoner and all three have won state titles in the last five years. Despite being a consistent powerhouse, the Tigers are getting hungrier and hungrier for a return to Edmond and to lift the gold ball for what would be the fourth time in school history. This season, they will take it one step at a time. First, they'll face a non-district slate made up entirely of Class 5A opponents. Then they'll attack the district schedule and go after the district championship. And if they take the district crown, they'll look to use that momentum into the playoffs to get over the quarterfinal hump after falling short in that round in each of the last two seasons and three times in the last four years.
