PRZPA Team Preview, Roman Catholic Part 1 (2025s)

<p><strong>Season Outlook:</strong> Roman Catholic went 9-3 last year with three losses to Dematha, St. Joseph's Prep, and Imhotep Charter. Dematha is one of the best teams out of Maryland and St. Joseph's Prep and Imhotep Charter are two of the best teams in Pennsylvania. Both of them won state titles in Pennsylvania. This is part one for Roman Catholic, I am focusing on the 2025 prospects. </p>   <p><strong>Current Head Coach</strong>: Rick Prete </p>   <p><strong>Top returning 2024 prospects: </strong></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='598978' first='Louis' last='Gaddy'] is a legit safety who is already committed to playing football for Stony Brook. What I love about his film is his ability to cover and tackle in the open field. He has legit coverage skills. In both man-to-man and zone coverage. He has great speed and athleticism to cover receivers. Then he is a good tackler in the open field. He does a great job of using different angles to tackle offensive players. He can do it all from his defensive back position. Rarely do you see a prospect with his speed and athleticism and play at such a high level. He committed to Duke where former Penn State Defensive Coordinator Manny Diez is the Current Head Coach. This is a massive get for Duke. He is a good defensive tackle who does a good job, especially against the run. He is hard to move off his spot as he has good strength at the point of attack. Below is what my colleague [player_tooltip player_id='1156407' first='Vic' last='Castillo'] said about him in the past<br></p>   <p class="text-gray-700">"Ford providing some IDL penetration too. Stat lines are tough to figure out for the big boys underneath, yet I recommend putting on the tape and watching these two work in their new home. He can do it all from the wide receiver position. He is outstanding at making difficult catches. 50/50 balls he shows excellent body control and strength coming down with catches. He recently picked up his 1st offer from Stony Brock. Below is what my colleague [player_tooltip player_id='1156407' first='Vic' last='Castillo'] said about him from before: </p>   <p>"With the elite 2024 Roman Catholic class departing, new names are bound to step up, especially on this Roman offense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='386284' first='Semaj' last='Beals']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/semaj-beals-2/"></a> will have his flurry of weapons to throw the ball to, not sure if any are as big and long as Newsuan. Good tape has him debuting two spots away from the top 20, that's with Newsaun battling for offensive reps against special teammates/seniors. I expect Newsuan to break out as a potential goal-line, vertical threat weapon for Beals and the offense. He looks like he is shot out of a cannon when he gets off the ball and the way he gets into the offensive backfield. His 1st couple of steps are special from his stance. Then when he gets into the backfield he shows his speed by attacking the offense. He is a good tackler and ball carriers feel him when he tackles them. He also has good pass-rushing moves and uses them well. Toombs is a fast and twitchy defensive lineman who explodes off the ball. He is a difference-maker at the defensive line. He has started to pick up steam in the recruiting world with an initial offer from Akron and more recently Long Island. Below is what my colleague [player_tooltip player_id='1156407' first='Vic' last='Castillo'] said about him earlier this year: </p>   <p>"Excited to see a young man given an FBS grade, while seeing said grade come to life in the form of a scholarship offer. Coach Nyeem Wartman, the DL Coach out of Akron, has done his part recruiting the right names out of Philadelphia. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1091189' first='Lazaryus' last='Toombs']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/lazaryus-toombs/"></a> is an ideal offer candidate, he recently spoke with Wartman just a week prior to writing, with Wartman extending the 6'3, 235-pound DE an scholly offer. Toombs missed the top 20 DL cut by one spot, yet he's likely to see more G5s call his number soon. He also attended our Prep Redzone Showcase where he made 1st team defensive back. Palmer has an elite skill set as a defensive back. He can cover and make plays all over the field. He is committed to Monmouth. Below is what my colleague [player_tooltip player_id='1156407' first='Vic' last='Castillo'] said about him: </p>   <p>"Wish I had kept Roman Catholic's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='855288' first='Christian' last='Palmer']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/christian-palmer/"></a> inside the Top75, a spot he landed as a sophomore last year. He's one prospect I don't mind reworking immediately, expect to see his ranking change overnight. I'll do a deep dive into how he performed in a later piece, getting into the specifics of how he matched up against great talent at the WR position. In both positions, he is a dog. He has great coverage skills and locks down receivers. His ability to move his feet and stay in front of receivers is excellent. Then when the ball is thrown in his direction he does a good job of getting his hands on the ball and deflecting passes. He does a good job of hitting the hole and making defenders miss. He has an explosiveness as a running back, as he is able to make defenders miss. He also has good speed and when he gets into the open field he just explodes past defenders. He is a playmaker everytime he touches the ball. He also has good hands and catches the ball well out of the backfield. He scored as a wide receiver and as a punt retuner. He has legit speed and once he gets into the open field he runs past defenders. He is great at catching short passes and then turning them into bigger plays. He has good hands and catches the ball well in space. He does a nice job of being patient and hitting the hole. He is the perfect zone running back. As he is able show patience and find the hole in the running lane. Then when he hits the hole he explodes through the hole. He has legit moves to make defenders miss in space. Tabb is a good prospect at running back. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1091272' first='Yahseam' last='Stokes'] played offensive line last year for Roman Catholic. He has a great combination of strength and athletics to play offensive tackle. He does a good job firing out of his stance and blocking defensive players. He moves his feet well and stays in front of edge defenders trying to get around him. Stokes also does a nice job of going down field to block linebackers. He makes defenders miss in the open field and then has the speed to run by defenders. He is exceptional in the open field with the ability to make defenders miss. He also shows good hands and catches the ball well. Scott is also a physical running back that is hard to bring down. He has position versatility with playing center and guard last year. At both positions he shows good strength and athleticism. He has some elite skills as a run blocker. He just engages with defenders and drives them off the ball. He shows athleticism by going out and blocking on the edge and downfield on screen passes. They have talent at all positions on the field. Roman Catholic issue is trying to get over the hump and beat teams like Saint Joseph's Prep and Imhotep Charter. They should be in good position this season to possibly beat either. </p>
