2027 Rankings Debut: 11-20 Ranked Prospects

The 2027 rankings have made their long-awaited debut with an initial list of the Top 60 rising sophomores in West Virginia. While these rankings will greatly change over the next three years as more athletes emerge and more information and film becomes available, these are the 2027 prospects who have proven to be some of the best at this time. Here are the 11-20 ranked prospects in the 2027 class in our eyes at this early stage.    Capital ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1155316' first='David' last='Robinson Jr'] narrowly missed out on making our 2027 debut Top 10 and could one day make his way inside of it. He had a very productive freshman season for the Cougars which earned him WVSWA Class AAA Honorable Mention All-State honors and Second Team All-MSAC. Robinson Jr is a bit of a Swiss Army Knife at this point who lined up all over the field for Capital last season. Slot receiver or defensive back looks to be his future best positions but debuts as the #2 ATH in the class for now. He's a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands and it's no surprise why his coaches got him the ball in a variety of ways as a freshman.   His speed, quickness, and playmaking ability give him a high ceiling as a prospect that could one day develop into a D1-level player.      We'll learn a lot about 2027 Huntington LB [player_tooltip player_id='863631' first='Ilias' last='King'] over the next three years but the early signs are there that he'll develop into one of the top prospects in this class. This high ranking is a bet on him to get there in time and we'll be watching him closely to see if he can prove it on the field. Film is limited of him right now which is to be expected from a freshman on a team the caliber of Huntington, but his role on the varsity team is sure to increase as he gets older. King earned LB MVP honors at the GCOH Camp back in May amongst a talented group of campers as well. He's a three-sport athlete with a wrestling and track background that we love to see with prospects.   We'll get a better idea of his potential and ability once we have more game film to evaluate, but King is a 2027 prospect to monitor closely over the next few years.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/GCOHCampSeries/status/1790559684488741106 </div></figure>     The 2027 running back class is still in the very early stages of separating themselves with few names emerging right now, but South Harrison RB [player_tooltip player_id='864596' first='Jaden' last='Hatfield'] has the early lead in the race. We've been excited about him ever since hearing about his middle school prowess and got eyes on him in person at our Combine event back in May. Hatfield looked the part in person and moves differently than most 2027 prospects currently with a very high athletic ceiling. He tested well at our camp and improved his numbers at the Kellar Elite Camp with a 4.63 40 and a 4.28 pro agility shuttle time. Hatfield is a natural athlete who can do just about anything athletically and is only improving in those areas as he gets older which is scary to think about where he'll be as a senior.   Hatfield returned to his home school at South Harrison this year and is poised to have a huge breakout season at that level.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/JadenHatfield27/status/1779584374616281593 </div></figure>     We said 2027 Hedgesville QB [player_tooltip player_id='861657' first='Chaz' last='Milburn'] was the early leader in this quarterback class back in the winter and kept our word with the debut #1 quarterback ranking at this early stage. Now up to 6'2 180, Milburn has progressed nicely in that regard since seeing him in person before his freshman year at a camp where he was an MVP performer before ever taking a snap at the high school level. Unfortunately, he was injured most of last season which makes film a bit limited, but we're anticipating a big bounce-back season as a sophomore this season. Milburn has the arm talent and natural ability to keep the #1 spot over the next three years but will have some tough competition to stay at the top.   With a healthy season in 2024, Milburn should be able to show the state why we think so highly of him.      The top two quarterbacks in the 2027 class right now are really 1A and 1B depending on your personal preference. Washington QB [player_tooltip player_id='862698' first='Braylon' last='Holmes'] is the top dual-threat option at the quarterback position right now and is developing well as a passer. Holmes is a good athlete for the position with nice size for a young QB at 6'2 190 and has the athletic versatility to see snaps at other spots on both sides of the ball this season. He has legit playmaking ability as a runner who doesn't shy away from contact with a great combination of speed and power. Holmes also has very good velocity on his throws and can develop into a lethal passer as well.   He'll split time with a senior transfer this season for the Patriots then should be their guy as a junior and senior with an exciting future for himself and the Washington program.      Martinsburg's [player_tooltip player_id='895900' first='Brian' last='Dick'] has a bright future as a quarterback, but his potential as an ATH prospect may be even greater. He proved to be very dangerous as a run-first quarterback on the Bulldogs' JV team last season and could see an expanded role on the varsity team as a sophomore with positional versatility. Dick will need to wait his turn at least one more season before competing for the varsity quarterback job but could slide right in for his junior and senior seasons. If not, we believe he has a high ceiling as a potential running back or linebacker prospect in the future depending on how he develops the next three seasons. That's not to say he doesn't have the arm talent to play quarterback at the next level and speaks more to how athletic he is as we wait for more of a sample size as a passer at the varsity level.   We'll learn a lot more about Dick's game the next three seasons and expect some big things from him once his number is called on at the varsity level.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS2ruM9kFQA&ab_channel=BrianDick </div></figure>     2027 Washington OL [player_tooltip player_id='895941' first='Vincent' last='Arnicar'] had an impressive performance at our Combine in May where he earned OL Top Performer honors and now makes his debut as the #3 offensive lineman in the class. Arnicar was a freshman varsity starter for the Patriots last season and is on pace to finish as one of the top big men prospects in this class. He's a very big young athlete with the perfect frame for a college guard and very good early strength. Arnicar already looks like a college-aged athlete and scary to think where he'll be as a senior. He plays with an edge on the field and is a physically imposing blocker for his age.   If Arnicar continues to develop his athleticism and footwork over the next three seasons, his ceiling as a prospect will be very high by his senior year.      Martinsburg has another very promising 2027 prospect to no one's surprise with running back [player_tooltip player_id='1154974' first='Boston' last='Todd'] who debuts as a Top 20 prospect and #2 RB in the class. The name Todd should be very familiar to Bulldogs' fans and people around the state from his older brother Braxton's prolific high school career. The younger Todd looks to be on pace to keep the family name highly thought of and was dynamic for the Martinsburg freshman team last season. Todd is very quick and fast with a great burst and was a threat to score any time he touched the ball as a freshman. He may earn some varsity playing time as a sophomore but should be a big-time playmaker for the Bulldogs whenever he gets called up.   We expect Todd to contribute to the varsity team sooner rather than later and believe he has a high ceiling as a prospect.      Cabell Midland's [player_tooltip player_id='920539' first='Eli' last='Thompson'] has a high ceiling as a prospect at TE or DE but debuts as the #2 defensive lineman in the 2027 class. We considered him as a TE on the Winter Watch List, but after watching his film again, we loved his potential as a DE. Thompson is a long athlete at 6'3 210 with clear early athleticism to pair with it. He's a relentless pass rusher with a high motor and pursues the ball with great effort. Thompson is very quick off the end and does a nice job using his length to his advantage which made him a very tough blocker at the JV level last season. He's also very good at redirecting mid-play and utilizing a spin move to change directions toward the ball.   We could see him earning significant varsity playing time as a sophomore or potentially even a starting spot with a very bright future ahead of him.      2027 Morgantown OL [player_tooltip player_id='1111466' first='Konnor' last='Mott'] first caught our eye at a camp back in the winter without being on our radar beforehand and were shocked to find out he was just a freshman. Mott has great size this early on at 6'4 315 and a clear scholarship-level OL prospect with D1 potential depending on his development over the next few years. Mott moves well for his size and appears to have the athleticism to play offensive tackle in high school and beyond. We also loved the effort he played with in the limited highlights available on his Hudl as a defensive tackle too. There aren't many offensive highlights available right now but from seeing him in person and the way he's built, OT is his definite future.   Mott has a high ceiling as a prospect and is an early candidate for one of the top big men in the 2027 class that you need to closely follow the next three seasons.
