2024 Team Preview: Mountain Pointe Pride Defense

His dynamic playmaking ability makes him a must find pre-snap on the field. He has incredible elite speed at the safety position to cover so much ground. Pair that with his great ball skills, snagging a pair of interceptions last season. His hard hitting and high energy play will create havoc for offenses this upcoming season. With an impressive frame on the interior at 6'2 290 lbs, he is a disruptor at the defensive tackle position. He easily disengages from linemen and makes plays in the backfield. Jones managed to have 6.5 sacks last season. His pass rush exhibits excellent upfield burst and close on QBs making him a guy you have to account for. Having his best game coming in their 6A postseason appearance against Perry shows you that he can rise to the occasion in big game situations. Recording 7 total tackles, 4 solo tackles, and 2 sacks in an impressive outing, we can expect a few more games like this coming in 2024. He plays with very good play speed, agility, and open field pursuit. The 1st team All-City defender had a spectacular season last year for the Pride. Having 68 total tackles, 49 of those solo tackles, and 4 sacks at the inside linebacker in just 6 games he played is remarkable. He has excellent sideline-to-sideline speed, able to cover tons of ground. An amazingly fast player already off his sophomore year campaign, he is looking to be a key contributor in this team's pursuit for a title. Racking 36 total tackles, 28 of those as solo tackles, and 8 TFLs, there is a lot to be excited about for his junior year. He displays great instincts and lighting fast anticipation living in opponents' backfields. Playing primarily at the cornerback position, his man coverage ability to run stride for stride with receivers is sensational. Notching 4 pass deflections last season for the Pride, he's looking to be their number 1 lockdown guy on the outside. With great acceleration and change of direction, he can cover anybody he wants. If needed, he can come up and make plays in the run game tackling on the outside with solid wrap up ability.
