Every year at the Future Stars Game event featuring North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia, the state of Georgia seems to bring the most next-level kids out of every state. Below are prospects in the class of 2029, which means they have another year of pre-high school ball (barring a reclass year), that opened my eyes during practice. With so much talent on the field, I could have named the entire 40+ prospect roster. However, this group below really did some special things while I was watching practice.

Immediately caught my eye and was the first prospect I took a picture of while watching the 7th Grade Georgia practice. Tall, lean, muscular build with all the throwing fundamentals to boot. Strong arm and very athletic, as well. During media night, I said if I was doing 'Create A Player' in Madden or College Football 2025, Whitworth is what a QB prospect would look look like.

Another Quarterback that impressed during practice reps was [player_tooltip player_id='1307211' first='Caden' last='Jones'] out of Lassiter. He's nearly as tall as Whitworth, just not as physically developed at this point in June 2024. Appeared to have a long arms and one of those Quarterbacks that can throw the ball a country mile if he's able to step into it and get all his power into it. I liken his throwing motion to watching a catapult toss a boulder.

A returner off last year's 6th grade Georgia Future Stars team, Jenkins did a nice job of hitting the holes hard during practice. A nicely-put together Running Back that looked to be big on ball security as he doubled up going through the middle of the offensive line.

The prospect on this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars team with the biggest upside of anyone, was [player_tooltip player_id='952493' first='Kameron' last='Barnes']. He's listed on the roster at 6-foot-5 and 155-pounds, but we had him measured a little shorter and heavier than that at our PRZ Next Middle School camp, now in the neighborhood of 6-foot-3 and 170-pounds. Regardless, he's an extremely tall prospect with a little bit of rawness to the way he moves. With a little agility work, this kid will be getting offers by next spring (2025). Depending on how he fills out and how fluid he gets, we're looking at a big Wide Receiver that will cause matchup nightmares or a Tight End that will require Safety help over the top. He's going to be a good one.

It's overlooked on nearly every play, but literally nothing can happen without a good Center/Quarterback exchange. [player_tooltip player_id='735050' first='Cooper' last='McGrath'] did a nice job throughout practice of getting the ball back without issue and then executing his blocks. Looked specifically strong and on point with reach his reach blocks and combo blocks, allowing the speed of this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars team to do, what it does. He's a nice looking interior guy.

Playing primarily Defensive Tackle, Gongwer was a prospect that kept catching my eye on this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars defense. He's already a big kid who's listed at 6-foot-1 and 195-pounds, but has to be knocking on the door of 6-foot-2. He's in that strong Buford pipeline, where he'll get a ton of great coaching to make him even better. He has somewhat of a Defensive End's build right now, but with his bigger frame, I could see him packing on the weight to become an athletic DT.

This kid right here, [player_tooltip player_id='866483' first='Kaiden' last='Graves'], is worth the price of admission alone. A year after nabbing the 6th grade Defensive MVP for the Georgia Future Stars, the big Defensive End doubled down and went to capture the 7th grade Defensive MVP this year. Before all that, the inch taller and 25-pounds heavier than last year Graves was looking really good in practice when he was on the field. He did his fair share of hangin out, avoiding the heat and making sure his body was right for the game(s). However, when he was in--he was nothing short of dominant. Countless tackles in the backfield and disruptions on attempted passes. The most impressive thing I saw him do, was get his big Grizzly Bear paw up and deflect a pass and nearly pick it off, as a pass rushing Defensive End.

Lumpkin is a prime example of how much can change in just a year when it comes to prospects on the pre-high school level. A year ago, he was a nice piece on the 6th grade Georgia Future Stars team, but was physically a little bit behind some of the other kids. Fast forward a year and he looks like a completely different football player. A quick, slippery Wide Receiver on the outside, he was getting loose against some super talented GA DBs.

Another returner from last year's 6th grade Georgia Future Stars team, Whitson was making catch after catch in the 7v7 portion of the practice. It didn't matter what receiver position he was lined up at, or what formation the offense came out in, he was consistently finding soft spots in the secondary to settle in and make himself available to make a grab.

One of several prospects on this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars team that play with the Rarebreeds travel program--which, if ya' don't know, ya' should know this Georgia-based program. Walker looked really good and fast as an Outside linebacker during practice. He also plays Running Back on the offensive side of the ball, so his ability to fly to the ball and play in space was very clear. Was light on his feet the entire practice and almost floated, he was moving so well.

While watching warmups, the first I noticed about Beasley was just how big his cleats were. I asked him and he answered, "size 17". From then on, I just called him Boat, because the name fit for not only what he was on his feet, but also for his his size at 6-foot and 320-pounds. Beasley is an absolute load and took up a ton of room. Honestly speaking, he could probably drop some weight and still be as menacing on the interior line. He's a big dude that is tough to run against, but great to run behind.

I haven't mentioned in all the Rarebreed kids in this write up, but Reeder is in fact, another member of the Rarebreeds on this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars roster. I hate to call him "unndersized" at a solid 5-foot-9 and 175-pounds, but compared to some of the giants on this team, he was one of the smaller D-Ends on the field. However, size took a back seat to watching him fire off the edge. Even the biggest Offensive Tackles in the world can't stop, what they can't touch. Reeder bent the edge like a magician and was consistently hip-to-hip or past the Tackle on every rep I saw him take. I can easily see him transitioning to an OLB, depending on his growth--because he's certainly athletic enough to.

Despite some of the things I've said in this write up of various players, I don't like giving out superlatives. With that said, no prospect impressed me more as an athlete, a leader and most importantly as a young man, than [player_tooltip player_id='1256345' first='Chance' last='Davis']. Athletically, he's as good as they come as far as 2029 Linebackers--he's fast, has incredible hips/change of direction ability, and is a sure-tackler. Off the field, looked me in the eye and was the first one to speak up and ask questions during a social media Q&A session I had with the kids after practice. Prime example of the little things that matter.

There's no shot I could miss him in those dope baby blue cleats, but [player_tooltip player_id='1307359' first='Kelsey' last='Waters'] was one that impressed me at practice. He took reps at Outside Linebacker, but honestly looked more like a Strong Safety walked up in the box. Comes with the ball skills of a Defensive Back, but the ability to wrap up and make quality tackles, like a Linebacker.

Right behind [player_tooltip player_id='952493' first='Kameron' last='Barnes'] (listed above) Nolan is the prospect I saw with the biggest upside on this 7th grade Georgia Future Stars team. Blessed with elite size for an Outside Linebacker at this level, listed at 5-foot-11 and 180-pounds, he made the most of his physical gifts. You guessed it, another kid out of the Rarebreeds program, his athleticism translates to Defensive End, Linebacker and Safety on defense. While I didn't get to see it, he told me he plays Running Back on the offensive side of the ball too. I don't care where you coach, there's room for a prospect like this on the field at any time.

While the defensive prospects seemed to pop a little bit more during practice, Johnson Jr. was a prospect on the offensive side of the ball that separated himself. A rocked up, 5-foot-7, 170-pound kid who primarily played Running Back, he sounded different running the ball. Hard to describe the actual sound, but he ran the ball with heavy feet, yet could cut and move around like he was floating on clouds. Ran low to the ground and attacked the hole with aggression. Fittingly enough, he also plays Linebacker on the defensive side of the ball. While he didn't play Future Stars this year, having unanimous No.1 2029 Offensive Lineman, [player_tooltip player_id='450408' first='Landon' last='Ghea'] leading the way for [player_tooltip player_id='1307369' first='Mark' last='Johnson Jr.'] at Milton, makes them terrifying.

After recently making the decision to reclass to the 2029 class, McFadden was already slotted to be on the 8th grade Georgia Future Stars team--and that's where he practiced. That said, McFadden--who is on the shorter/smaller side--was a human highlight reel during practice. The future Carrollton Trojan Wide Receiver was electric in practice, making catches on balls I thought he'd no shot at catching. Whether it was chasing down an overthrown ball, or beating the drum and sitting down in a soft spot in the defense of coverage, he was a menace. Depending on if he can get to that 5-foot-9/5-foot-10 stigma that a lot of P4 programs have, he'll be highly recruited. Bottomline, McFadden is a dog that coaches should take a look at no matter how tall he ends up getting.
