showed a lot of promise and potential last year as he ran through defenders with ease at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. He runs with power, authority, and helped carry the load for a fantastic Newton rushing attack last year. In reserve role, Lumpkin showed why he’s an easy Power Four running back prospect due to his impressive vision and ability to power his way through would-be tackles. He’s tough to stop and has his best football way ahead of him. Lumpkin has earned recent offers from Penn State. Wisconsin, Auburn, Indiana, among others. He’s currently ranked as the number 2 running back in Georgia for the 2029 class, bound for a really strong sophomore season next fall.

has quickly become one of the more exciting young running backs to watch in Georgia’s Class of 2029, emerging as a physical and instinctive runner out of Newton High School in Covington. At around 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds as a freshman, Lumpkin already shows the strength to run through contact and finish runs with authority, while also displaying the vision and patience that projects well as he continues to develop. Scouts and coaches have praised his work ethic and natural feel for the position, particularly given his ability to make plays even as part of a crowded backfield early in his high school career.
The recruiting buzz around Lumpkin has quickly ramped up in his first years on the radar, and his offer sheet reflects that growing interest. He holds a scholarship offer from the University of Georgia, a nod to his talent and his Georgia legacy, and has also drawn offers from Georgia State, University of South Carolina, University of Florida, North Carolina, Auburn, and others — including interest from programs like Wisconsin and Indiana on social media recruiting feeds. As his body continues to fill out and his role expands on the field, Lumpkin’s combination of size, strength and early recruiting momentum make him one of the names to watch among Georgia’s up-and-coming running back prospect.

A tough, physical runner who knows how to deliver a big hit behind his pads, Lumpkin was down the depth chart this season as a freshman in a loaded Newton running back room, but when he got the ball, he took full advantage. He shows good vision for someone his age and knows how to get down-hill for tough yards. He ran just 29 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. If he continues to work hard and add more mass, Lumpkin could be one of the region’s best next year and in store for a possible breakout sophomore season. He has Power Four potential and is now ranked as the No. 2 running back in the state for the 2029 class.

Another physically gifted running back in the 2029 class to keep a close eye on this fall, Lumpkin turned heads this spring during the Newton spring game and has the size and talent to make a big impact in year one this season. He brings a muscular 5-foot-11 185-pound frame, he’s shifty, can break tackles, and has enough speed to out-run defenders down the field. He’s the son of former Georgia Bulldog and NFL running back Kregg Lumpkin and has the potential to have an outstanding first season this fall. He’s currently ranked as the No. 2 RB prospect in Georgia for the 2029 class.

Lumpkin is a prime example of how much can change in just a year when it comes to prospects on the pre-high school level. A year ago, he was a nice piece on the 6th grade Georgia Future Stars team, but was physically a little bit behind some of the other kids. Fast forward a year and he looks like a completely different football player. A quick, slippery Wide Receiver on the outside, he was getting loose against some super talented GA DBs.
