The clock has ticked to July! Before everyone heads out to celebrate the 4th, indulge in good food, take in some fireworks, be with friends and family, I wanted to focus on the fireworks that a lot of athletes make on the field. The ones that can change a game with a single touch. The athletes that defenses have to focus on containing. These are just a few of the most explosive athletes in Wisconsin that are going to dominate football fields across WI.

We usually wouldn't start off this type of article with a QB but MJ is not your standard pocket passer. MJ can completely change the game with a single throw or a single run. The dual threat athlete has game breaking speed with elusiveness to get him through the front seven when he breaks the pocket. MJ has great vision as a runner and has that innate playmaker ability to make the off the wall play look easy. Then you add in an arm that allows his offense to attack the entire field. His range isn't limited and the mechanics of the athletic QB are so consistent, allowing him to be an accurate passer. I'm very excited for the season to get here so we can see that standout QB get back to making plays.

Chris is a dominant WR who can flip the field or rip the top off the defense at any moment. What is so special about Kiel is his combination of athleticism and power. He can dominate with either. The '25 WR provides a huge target area. One that is much larger than his 5'11" frame might suggest. His leaping ability and strong hands allow him to go up and get it at the highest possible point and catch it away from his body then hold onto it through any contact. Christopher can also win off the line. He has explosive acceleration to eat up cushion from a CB, or stack a CB quickly off the line and then easily pull away downfield. Plus he is so explosive out of route breaks, opening up space on shorter routes. Kiel is a D1 WR prospect that can win in so many different ways.

Cooper is a special athlete out wide. Everything he does can be done at top speed. That speed is a game changer. Whether it is simple go route where he gets on top of CBs then runs away from them or exploding out of a slant or in break, again opening up big windows of separation. White is so twitchy and with his excellent body control is able to run sudden, crisp routes that HS DBs just can't run with. Cooper is a slippery athlete after the catch too, piling up yards after the catch. Cooper can turn any catch into a big play.

Carson was a big play waiting to happen in 2023. The athlete averaged 8.1 yards per carry while putting up over 1,200 yards. It is great seeing college programs start to extend him offers because he is a special talent. Carson plays both ways for Horlick and could do either at the next level, but RB is where I want to focus. Carson has a dominant blend of power and speed that leads to him making the fireworks throughout his tape. The 5'10" 200 lbs muscled up athlete can run behind his pads, power over defenders and keep his balance for a long gain, and on the next play he can make an LB miss with his sudden lateral agility in the tackle box then accelerate for a big play. Fletcher has built a great base of explosiveness that is going to create highlight after highlight this fall.

The Class of 2026 has a slew of standout RBs in it that can break a game wide open at any second. Leading the way is D1 State Champion [player_tooltip player_id='948094' first='Tommy' last='Novotny']. Tommy is a 5'9" 170 incoming junior that is so versatile. He can run inside, outside, or catch the ball. He has great patience and vision with the ball in his hands. Once he lets his blocks set up he flips the switch and accelerates through gaps before any free defender can close on him. Downfield he has the speed to easily beat pursuit angles and the '26 isn't afraid of contact. We have seen him pile up 25+ touches in big games and deliver wins. Tommy is a very explosive athlete that is sure to make even more dominant highlights this fall.

Another member of the explosive 2026 RB Class is Arrowhead's [player_tooltip player_id='948090' first='Jacob' last='Siner']. The 5'8" 165 lbs back is synonymous with the term fireworks. Every touch on his tape is exciting. Jacob is always working to get out in space with the football. His vision to find lanes to green grass is exceptional and his quick twitch agility and burst allow him to hit those holes. Defenses need to hope that they can contain him in those moments because once he gets to green grass it is all but over. Jacob can stop/start or cut on a dime. He can jump cut away from a defender like he teleported away from them, leaving them tackling air. Siner is arguably the most elusive back when it comes to playing in tight quarters. Then he has the excellent track speed to break play wide open and win the race to the end zone.

Anthony is another one of those electric '26 RBs. I love the way Anthony plays right from when he gets the handoff. His vision is great both behind the line and beyond. Liggins is so quick to find his aiming point that he doesn't have to hesitate while takingng the handoff. He just goes 100 mph everywhere. Downfield the '26 plays like he has a 360 degree view because he seems to know where every defender is and knows how to make them miss using their leverage on the field and his quick twitch agility. Anthony also has explosive speed that shows up on tape over and over and he leaves DBs falling farther and farther behind. The Racine Case stud also is an experienced receiver out of the backfield. There are a lot of ways they get Liggins involved. The fireworks usually follow closely behind.

When Arrowhead isn't handing the ball off to Siner they get to throw it downfield to athletes like Harper. Harper is an accomplished track athlete to go along with his receiver play. Some of his highlights look like he is running the 100M dash more than playing football as he simply eats up cushion and runs right past DBs on the way to big plays. Harper has explosive acceleration off the line, out of breaks, and out of tackle attempts that he breaks through. The '26 is able to get to top speed so suddenly. The WR's balance at top speed has allowed him to become a dangerous route runner, opening up space for his QB to target and space for him to use after the catch. The '26 only needs a little bit of space to make corners miss or get the angle on them then he is off to the races. The cherry on top is that the explosive athlete is great at tracking the ball and has reliable hands to reel in passes. Harper is a mismatch that creates fireworks on the majority of his receptions. A big fall is loading for him.
