Christopher Kiel
About Christopher
Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
From start to finish, Chris has spent his entire senior year as our WR1. What he provides while split out wide is hard to find. Chris is a very strong and explosive 5’11” 190 lbs. Every move he makes has power behind it. Whether it is high pointing a ball in the endzone, making a DB miss 1 on 1, or running through a tackle attempt Kiel always has the strength advantage. Even while being a powerful athlete, Chris is still able to remain smooth and fluid with his movements. Those two traits combine to make him a great route runner who is able to open up space with his acceleration out of breaks. The senior also possesses the strong, reliable hands needed from a WR1. This playmaker has the frame and physicality to be able to play out wide at a very high level of college football.

Having a guy like WR1 Chris Kiel available for this exercise is very handy. He fits into so many categories because of his loaded skill set. In the end I had to go with his physicality that he brings to the position. You see it in the way he attacks his routes, the way he fits through contact to make the catch, and the way he runs with the ball after the catch. Kiel has plenty of strength and isn’t afraid to play tough. With the size and speed we have built to this point, having his physicality on top of it has us well on our way to creating the Perfect WR Recruit.

WR1 in Wisconsin is still on the market and looking for his college home. The 5’11” 190 lbs senior has the most well rounded game in the state. He dominates with quickness and strength in the short passing game. Creating separation with his sudden route running and then piling up the yards after the catch and after contact with his strong running. The senior also has the speed, high-point leaping ability, and ball tracking skills to win deep downfield. The 5’11” WR provides a massive catch radius compared to what you might expect from a kid his size. Chris needs to be one of, if not the first kid you look at among the uncommitted athletes.

Arguably the most talented athlete on the field last night was WR Chris Kiel. He is an athletic monster. The senior is so quick and shifty and able to make those sudden movements with power that you only see at the highest levels of college football. Kiel’s ability to elevate and attack the ball in the air with strong hands made an appearance on a two point conversion where he soared over the DB for the catch and held on through the tackle. The trait that stood out most, though, was how hard he runs after the catch. They hit Chris on multiple quick screens and let him work. Time after time he would drag DBs or run through tackles until a gang of defenders finally arrived to bring him down. The power and explosive athleticism within his 5’11” 195 lbs frame is special. Kiel looked the part of WR1.

What a week for the best WR in Wisconsin! The elite playmaker put up an outstanding performance this past week. Kiel’s skill set is simply unfair at this level. He has the speed to easily get behind DBs. The body control and acceleration make it so easy for him to run crisp routes and create big windows of separation. The senior WR plays the ball in the air so well too. He finds it, adjusts if needed, and so naturally reels in the catch. Christopher is a big reason behind the weekly success of the Mount Horeb/Barneveld offense. I’m very excited to see where he ends up at the next level. You will be hard pressed to find better uncommitted players in WI. Watch the tape.

This is another pick that could be considered more of a dark horse selection. Chris has an overflow of personal talent. He is one of the best WRs in the state with his explosive athleticism and ball skills. He is also one of just a few receiving leaders on his team returning in 2024. Mount Horeb/Barneveld will be starting a new QB, but he looks like a talented prospect who should be able to find and get the ball to Kiel anywhere on the field. If the connection is there between Kiel and QB

Chris is a dominant WR who can flip the field or rip the top off the defense at any moment. What is so special about Kiel is his combination of athleticism and power. He can dominate with either. The ’25 WR provides a huge target area. One that is much larger than his 5’11” frame might suggest. His leaping ability and strong hands allow him to go up and get it at the highest possible point and catch it away from his body then hold onto it through any contact. Christopher can also win off the line. He has explosive acceleration to eat up cushion from a CB, or stack a CB quickly off the line and then easily pull away downfield. Plus he is so explosive out of route breaks, opening up space on shorter routes. Kiel is a D1 WR prospect that can win in so many different ways.

. The 5’11” 185 lbs WR is a jacked up prospect who will be able to handle the physicality that some CBs bring to the field. Kiel is also one of the best at tracking the ball and finding a way to go get it. Even at 5’11” you will see in his highlights that he has great leaping ability to highpoint the football. His hands are strong to rip the ball into his body through contact or a sea of hands. The balance and power in his route running allows him to create separation CBs very early in the route. Kiel has the suddenness to play in the slot and the strength to play out wide.

Rankings Jump: #46 up to #19rnOur next big stock riser is the WR out of Mount Horeb. Christopher sets himself apart from the crowd with his skill set. So many times we see receiver with the speed to win or WRs that have the physicality to overpower opponents. Chris puts both aspects into his game. The junior WR has no problem bursting out of his stance, getting behind the defense, and reeling in long TD passes with pure speed. He also has the short area agility, burst, and balance to run explosive route breaks that leave CBs trying to catch up. It is hard enough for a defense to try and contain Chris’ athleticism. Then he adds strong hands and the leaping ability to Moss DBs at the catch point if they do manage to stay with him downfield. On top of it all, after the catch you better have the pursuit there to gang tackle Kiel because he has shown he has no problem ripping away from DB tackle attempts or dragging them into the end zone. Kiel is an imposing WR to matchup with out wide and the D1 level is taking notice.
