Our spring camp tour continued on Thursday in Wagoner. In this report, we're taking a look some of the top standouts from each team participating in the camp. We got there after things got started and took in the rest of the camp, including the little scrimmages at the end of the camp. In this breakdown, we have a good mix of players that we've known about for a while along with some new faces that could and should be impact players for their respective teams this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] - 2025 Defensive Lineman - Wagoner

Our first standout from Thursday's team camp is a player from the home team and no surprise here. Wagoner's 2025 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] has long been considered one of the very best at his position and he showed that again on Thursday. Shieldnight was a match-up nightmare for most of Wagoner's opponents and he showed a variety of moves to beat his opponent. Whether it's quick bursts off the line or straight power moves, Shieldnight can beat teams in a variety of ways. Opponents did everything they could to try and slow him down and rarely succeeded. An underrated part of Shieldnight's game is his ability to turn around and play some tight end on offense. He made a few big catches Thursday as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1286537' first='Caleb' last='Cantrell'] - 2025 Linebacker - Pryor

Pryor is looking to make some noise this season in Class 5A and they have the majority of their starters back to make a run. One player that really stood out to us on Thursday was 2025 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1286537' first='Caleb' last='Cantrell'] and after looking at his production last season, it's easy to see why. Cantrell finished 2023 with over 100 tackles and he was a tackling machine on Thursday. Cantrell does a good job of reading the offense, being in the right place at the right time and finishing the play. Cantrell was excellent in the open field and can move around really well. Cantrell was the standout but we liked what we saw from the Tigers and they could end up being a serious dark horse in a very competitive Class 5A this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='486287' first='Jackson' last='Gain'] - 2025 Quarterback - Grove

Grove 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id='486287' first='Jackson' last='Gain'] made the transition from tight end to quarterback last season. After being a stud in the passing game as a pass catcher, Gain moved to QB and he really did look the part on Thursday. Gain has that prototypical size that college coaches are looking for and he can do a lot of things really well from that position. One thing that should have Grove fans excited is the deep ball. On Thursday, Gain was showing off the arm throughout the evening. He was pushing the ball down field and he has weapons at wide receiver to make plays. With Gain back and leading the offense, they could be one of the top passing attacks in their respective class this fall. He really impressed us on Thursday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='1286538' first='Jacob' last='Gain'] - 2025 Wide Receiver - Grove

We mentioned with [player_tooltip player_id='486287' first='Jackson' last='Gain'] that he has some weapons at wide receiver and 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1286538' first='Jacob' last='Gain'] is one he's very familiar with. Jacob is Jackson's twin brother and could end up being his top target in the Grove offense this fall. Gain was making catch after catch throughout the evening session on Thursday. On one play in particular, Gain was in a one on one situation in the end zone when his brother threw it up to him. It was a classic 50-50 ball and the DB was in good position, but Jacob just made a spectacular play and came down with the ball for a touchdown. We talked about how high we are on the Grove passing game as we look ahead to the 2024 season. That catch was a good example of why.

[player_tooltip player_id='211556' first='Jamarian' last='Ficklin'] - 2025 Quarterback - Muskogee

Every time Muskogee 2025 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='211556' first='Jamarian' last='Ficklin'] steps on the field, he is one of the top players on that field. And every time we've seen Ficklin in person, he's done at least one thing, and in a lot of cases, multiple things, that has made us say wow. That happened again on Thursday. Ficklin was flushed out of the pocket to his right but the lefty was still able to square his body up and deliver a strike down field while on the run. It was impressive to see. But it's only May and Muskogee didn't need Ficklin to prove anything so his time on the field was limited, at least while we were watching. But he did still continue his trend of making us say wow at least once when we see him in person. He'll do it more this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] - 2025 Quarterback/Linebacker - Wagoner

Wagoner 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] will be going into his third season as QB1 of the Bulldogs and it shows. He has developed into quite the playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. On Thursday, Charboneau showed an significant jump in his ability to beat defenses with his arm. He's always been a threat to tuck the ball and run and he's very tough to contain. But now that his passing as had steady improvement, he's a true dual-threat at the quarterback position. And we can't forget about what Charboneau can do on the defensive side of the ball. Whether he's lining up as a traditional linebacker or further back in the secondary, he's a terrific defender and he made plenty of plays there as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187309' first='Miguel' last='Chavez'] - 2025 Offensive Lineman - Muskogee

Muskogee 2025 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1187309' first='Miguel' last='Chavez'] took a giant step forward in our eyes as a prospect during the camp on Thursday. Chavez and his recruitment has been pretty steady over the last year but it should really explode now. Chavez was going head to head with some outstanding defenders coming off the edge and he did a fantastic job. Chavez lined up at right tackle to protect Ficklin (a lefty) and his blind side. The Muskogee offensive line was one of our question marks around the champs after losing a lot of experience to graduation. Chavez did a good job of answering at least some of those questions on Thursday. He was an absolute mauler and we can't help but be very impressed with him moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='515901' first='PJ' last='Wallace'] - 2025 Running Back - Muskogee

This was our first chance to see Muskogee 2025 running back [player_tooltip player_id='515901' first='PJ' last='Wallace'] in person with his new team after making a move this offseason. Wallace has been one of the best running backs in 6A-2 over the last few years and now he's joining the reigning state champions. Wallace is joining Ficklin in the backfield and together, they'll be arguably the top QB-RB duo in the class this fall. Wallace was lights out just about every time he touched the ball. He's the full package at the running back position. He can run between the tackles, break it to the outside and also catch the ball out of the backfield. But we also got a chance to see Wallace play a little defense and he didn't disappoint on that side of the ball either.
