Really good WR group this season and unlike other years there are A LOT of bigger targets to look at this year in New York. Prospects who are 6'2 plus are listed throughout the rankings and there are even multiple 6'4 plus prospects - two of which sit a top of our rankings and are currently committed to P4 schools.

Strong WR year and a couple prospects who although sit maybe in the 100s or further down have an opportunity to really rise up the rankings with guys from their team graduating or transferring.

Check out the updated 2025 Rankings HERE

#1 Overall

Samuel is easily the leader of this group. The combination of his size and athleticism is the best of any skill position player in the state.

The tape won't tell you the full story with Samuel playing for a run-first team that needed time to figure out their quarterback situation this past fall.

Samuel at camps/workouts showcases the potential you see big schools were so interested in.

More niche skills like his ability to catch away from his body, his flexibility and bend out of his breaks, and the ability to get upfield after the catch with long strides and long speed are what separates him from the rest of the group.

The Next 9

[player_tooltip player_id='811663' first='Daunte' last='Bacheyie'] - Bacheyie is every bit of 6'5 and he is a long lean WR prospect who is a true outside WR. Bacheyie has the track speed running 10.8 100m and has tons of potential with those measurables. Bacheyie has always been a part of a very talented WR group and missed most of his sophomore season so that stats won't tell you the full story.

[player_tooltip player_id='814928' first='Reid' last='Jones'] - Jones who will step into being the #1 target on reigning CHSFL state champs Cardinal Hayes has great measurables at 6'2 190 with a wingspan 5 inches longer than his height. Jones moves well and has shown the ability to play outside, in the slot, or even as more of an H-back type TE in the past. Jones averaged over 20 yards per catch and has the ability to really stretch the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1201633' first='Xavier' last='Watson'] - Watson is probably the only guy on this list that could transition into playing TE at the next level and it is because on top of his 6'4 frame he is already 200+ and has the ability to add weight. Watson is a strong physical route runner who wins with his body and ability to position himself well. A physical runner after the catch Watson also is tough to bring down in the open field and is a very direct after the catch upfield runner.

[player_tooltip player_id='406848' first='Kelvin' last='Shepard'] - A short stint out of state last season saw Shepard return to an East team that was already a well oiled machine during the regular season limiting his opportunities to make a big impact. Overall Shepard is one of the best athletes in the state and is the best true slot guy in the state. Quick and twitchy he can make plays after the catch and has a big impact in the screen game or running the ball but he pays a lot bigger than he is and has the ability to make contested catches and be physical attacking the ball at the catch point.

[player_tooltip player_id='648834' first='Steven' last='Dowdy Jr'] - Dowdy Jr was one of the most consistent performers in the CHSFL last season. Dowdy is an explosive athlete evident by some of his track and field numbers in the high jump and on tape is a smooth route runner who can create separation at all three levels. Dowdy is also one of the more talented returners in this years class and showcases the ability to be a factor after the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='505384' first='Jayden' last='Simpson'] - Simpson who played some on both sides of the ball a little bit this year due to team need is a talented route runner who will again be the #1 target for a Holy Trinity team that brings back a talented QB. Simpson creates separation consistently but does a good job of making the first guy miss after the catch. He showcases the ability to have some highlight reel YAC plays but making that first defender miss is one of his best traits.

[player_tooltip player_id='505385' first='Tyler' last='Washington'] - Washington was a top performer last season in one of the more pass friendly offenses in the state. Schroeder loses their QB to graduation so interested to see how Washington adjusts. Washington is a great route runner - who overall is in the discussion of being the best route runner in the state. His ability to change direction, make small adjustments to his speed and explosiveness out of his breaks, and smooth transitioning with his hips into comeback and out breaking routes is what sets him a part. Washington also has strong hands and consistently catches away from his body.

[player_tooltip player_id='1213092' first='Nassir' last='Edwards'] - Edwards is another bigger target on this list and he makes a ton of tough contested catches look easy. The Elmont WR catches away from his body and can contort and make tough catches through the air. Played some snaps at TE and I could see college coaches looking at him through that lense but I think is one of the better outside WR prospects who can really go up and get a ball out of the air.

[player_tooltip player_id='271051' first='Gavin' last='Gatchalian'] - A really impressive athlete Gatchalian has the sort of quick twitch movements that help him create separation. He has some impressive double moves where he can get open down the field but has the ability to create separation in the short area of the field. Quality route runner who knows how to get open and has the production and film to match what I have seen at camps.

Five Names To Watch This Upcoming Season

Spellman is a very impressive athlete who is one of the faster prospects in the CHSFL. A long list of talented WR prospects at Stepinac year over year makes has limited opportunities but there is not a player in the state who has a bigger opportunity to become the focal point of an offense that over the past few years has been one of the most productive in New York.

Britton is a really impressive overall athlete on tape and he runs well with a 11.3 100m. Britton has some intriguing versatility on tape where you see him line up in the slot, outside WR, even as a tight end at times. While he won't player TE at the next level the ability to be an impactful player at so many alignments showcases his athletcism.

Harvey will take a big step up in his role this season with Hayes losing two top WRs to graduation. Him and [player_tooltip player_id='814928' first='Reid' last='Jones'] look to be the top 2 targets for an offense that threw over 3,000 yards last year.

Harvey has the twitch and the quickness to create separation

Braz is a part of a strong WR room at Chaminade and he projects as one of the better outside WR prospects in the CHSFL.
