<p>Plenty of student-athletes rose up the new <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/04/plenty-of-movement-additions-in-26-rankings-update/">2026 Rankings</a> updated last week by Prep Redzone Iowa. West Des Moines Dowling Catholic defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='212327' first='Isaac' last='Beaver'] jumped from No. 20 overall to seventh. Ankeny running back [player_tooltip player_id='401669' first='Daniel' last='Larmie'] moved up 10 spots to No. 17. </p>

<p>The best news is that other student-athletes around the state can do the same in our next rankings update. Who might that be? Let's take a crack at it: </p>

Ike Boettger, Ross Pierschbacher and Jack Campbell are alums on NFL rosters. It's a good idea to check on their talent when ranking prep players in Iowa. Bishop (6-3, 250) is just scratching the surface of what he could be and should grow with excellent talent around him on the Tigers offensive line, which includes '25 Iowa State commitment [player_tooltip player_id='847962' first='Will' last='Tompkins']. As you can see while watching his u003ca href=u0022https://www.hudl.com/video/3/20566371/65b919f1bed6e40658083aacu0022u003esophomore highlight videou003c/au003e, Bishop embraces the physicality at his position. He plays with good pad level and drives through opponents with a strong base. He's athletic and squares up linebackers in space. That's a wise path in this state. Iowa and the position are like peanut butter and jelly. Physically, Roberts already looks the part only halfway through his high school career. It will be important for him to develop from a technical standpoint during the next few years. He should step into a more prominent role for the three-time defending state champions in '24. His u003ca href=u0022https://www.hudl.com/profile/17765306/Cael-Roberts/highlightsu0022u003eHudl pageu003c/au003e doesn't include a highlight video but individual games from last season. They reveal a blocker with an edge. Roberts crushes people at the line and can do damage in space as well. The ceiling here is high.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1234336"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"The first clip on McMurrin's u003ca href=u0022https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19730208/65375e8c5b3d5d0ac0fcd152u0022u003esophomore highlight videou003c/au003e shows him blocking down the field. He includes other plays with him helping spring big rushes. You love to see it. The West coaches take advantage of his versatile skill set and natural ability. They move him around the formation. McMurrin looks crisp running different routes and possesses impressive acceleration in space. He paced the run-heavy Wahawks in receiving yards (298) and touchdowns (3) as a 10th-grader, averaging 27.1 yards per reception. He ran 13 times for 119 yards and a score. McMurrin is overshadowed by teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1221926' first='Carson' last='Nielsen'], the state's No. 1 overall prospect in '26, but he's ready to emerge as a college prospect as well.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1238174"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Iowa City West boasts a strong '26 Class as evidenced by it having three guys in Top 40 of PRZIA's Rankings. He attacks and conquers. Whitters utilizes quickness and leverage in separating from blockers. He does a nice job keeping his head up while engaged so his eyes can remain on the target. He played defense on the varsity. Williams stands out on that side of the ball as well and that might end up being where he plays on the next level. He is an intriguing running back prospect, however. He gets downhill quickly with an explosive burst after taking the handoff. Williams emerges from packs of would-be-tacklers with good power in his game and a knack for keeping his legs churning.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["1238497"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"Sloan will be an important cog in one of the state's best offensive lines, anchored by four-star tackle [player_tooltip player_id='847892' first='Nick' last='Brooks']. While he lacks the prototypical height as an interior O-Lineman, Sloan makes up for it with excellent technique and power. He drives through the chest of his opponents and usually is the aggressor in these exchanges, as you can see watching his u003ca href=u0022https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17989076/655146305ca92e0b846821d9u0022u003esophomore highlight videou003c/au003e. Neve regularly separates from blocks, uses his hands well and shows strength, especially for his age, when lining up at defensive tackle. That most certainly could be his position in college. But there will be schools that smile seeing him maul people at offensive guard.","_player_evaluations_6_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":7,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-66291a4cbb3e1"} /-->
