Benitez put his name at the top of San Diego’s 2027 QB ranks after a stellar freshman season leading Granite Hills to an Open-Division section championship. The 6’2”/200 freshman was accurate and efficient with the ball throwing for over 2,200 yards and 23 TDs to only 4 INTs last fall. His poise against high-level competition and ability to distribute accurately and on-time at this early stage of his career stood out last season. Expect Benitez to be among the top-performing QBs at Sunday’s showcase.
Highlights
Garcia continued to show his playmaking talent on both sides of the ball (WR/DB) as a junior for La Costa Canyon last season. He’s a physical S on defense that actively seeks out the ball and shows great range and coverage skills in the back half. He’s a skilled receiver on offense with aggressive hands and obvious athleticism after the catch. Garcia should be a standout in 1v1s whether he’s playing offense or defense.
Ayala’s an underrated QB out of southern San Diego. Imperial’s 2025 QB threw for over 1,700 yards and 18 TDs and added another 7 TDs rushing last season. He’s a mobile pocket-passer that shows ability to distribute on-time and the raw arm strength to stretch the defense vertically. I’m interested to see Ayala in person and see how he stacks up against some of the other SoCal QBs this weekend.
Highlights
Sandoval’s making his second showcase appearance after attending PRZ’s most recent event in January where he showed promising size (6’5”/290), length, and footwork in OL drills. He was beat around the edge on a few of his 1v1 reps out of his OT position so his quickness off the ball and ability to stay in front of athletic rushers will be something to keep an eye on this weekend. Look for Sandoval to show continued development on Sunday.
