This roster is chock-full of high-upside players who I either know are good or players that I’ve been wanting to see in person for a while. This article will feature five offensive players who I’m extremely excited to get an in-person evaluation of!
QB | Reid Grimmer Reid Grimmer 6'4" | 175 lbs | QB Spring Lake | 2025 State MI | Spring Lake | Twitter
I’m highly excited to watch Reid in person again. His film shows a ton of upside, and he plays for a program not usually known for great quarterback play. Right now, I have above-average grades on him for accuracy, playmaking, and arm strength. Last time I watched Reid in person was almost a year ago at the Hope College 7on7 tournament. I think Reid could be a division 2 prospect in the near future, and his performance at the combine series will definitely give me a better understanding of his short-term ceiling.
WR/DB | Beau Peterson Beau Peterson 5'7" | 160 lbs | ATH Sparta | 2027 State MI | Sparta | Twitter
I’m confident that Beau will soon be a widely-known name in West Michigan. Everything I’ve heard of him is awesome, and the film I’ve seen shows a great athletic foundation. I’m especially looking forward to seeing his testing times in the shuttle, L, and 40. Sparta isn’t usually known for having great athletes, but Beau could change that perception in a few years. Especially being in the newly-formed River Cities Alliance league, Beau should eat up those defenses (and offenses). If he does well this weekend, I’m going to have to try and get out to a Sparta game next Fall.
WR | Jacob Johnson Jacob Johnson 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Brother Rice | 2026 State MI | Brother Rice | Twitter
Jacob is someone who I’ve watched a 2-minute highlight tape of… and that’s it. However, that highlight tape shows glimpses of the player I think he is. I saw awesome change of direction, hands, route running, and some open-field ability. His testing times and 1on1 competition performance will give me a good understanding of the player he is. Regardless of how he ends up performing, he’s someone I am really looking forward to see compete.
OL | Sullivan Garvin Sullivan Garvin 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Allegan | 2026 MI | Allegan | Twitter
Sullivan has already had himself an amazing offseason with his first-ever offer from Western Michigan. At our last camp, he won O-Line MVP Honors. He displayed an extremely high level of poise and coachability against a good D-Line group and noticeably improved throughout the camp. I’ve noticed he’s been attending other O-Line events early on in the offseason and ended up impressing Western enough for them to send out an offer. I honestly don’t recall a whole lot about Sullivan’s fundamentals or overall win rate since I didn’t spend much time with the linemen last camp. What I do know is that he’ll have his hands full with an even better D-Line group than last time, and I’m looking forward to seeing him block my most anticipated D-Line attendees.
OL | Ace Simonson Ace Simonson 6'2" | 290 lbs | OL Ada Forest Hills Eastern | 2025 State MI | Forest Hills Eastern | Twitter
Ace is a highly-ranked guy mostly because of the amount of positive word of mouth I’ve gotten, his existing verified testing information, and his highlight tape. The thing is, I’ve never seen him compete in person before. His film shows a ton of success as an aggressive run blocker, but I did see some room for improvement with his pass sets. As I said above, there are a ton of high-upside D-Linemen looking to make a name for themselves. It’s going to be fun to watch Ace go against the best of the best from that D-Line group!
