We spotlight a talented group of difference makers who made the Top Ten in the first PRZ Texas rankings update for the class of 2027.
Ellis is one of the most dynamic players in the country in the class of 2027. He is explosive off the line, he has elite quickness in space and when he gets in the open field he excels at making plays after the catch. Ellis has the top end speed to stretch the field but he has the skill set to work the short to intermediate routes and turn a short slant into a quick six. Antayvious has strong, reliable hands and he uses his body well to make grabs in heavy traffic. Ellis is an explosive leaper who plays above the rim and has the ability to win at the 50/50 contested balls. His phenomenal freshman season, 36 catches for 737 yards and 6 touchdowns was just the beginning, expect him to continue to light up defenses in 2024. Ellis has double digit offers from the likes of Houston, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arkansas and Arizona State.
Dixon is the total package at the running back position of speed, elusiveness and power out of the backfield. He has a stout, compact build with a powerful lower half and he has the ability to break tackles after initial contact. He runs with excellent pad level, Dixon has superb field vision and his explosion through the hole enables him to make big plays. Jakoby had a stellar freshman season at Brenham, tallying 1,683 total yards and 19 touchdowns, adding a big play element to the Brenham offense. Dixon is one the top players in the class of 2027 and he has seen his recruiting pick up this offseason. Offers from TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor and Tulsa have come in this spring, along with the Texas Longhorns coming to the table with an offer after his recent visit to Austin.
Myson is gamebreaker when he steps on the football field, when he totes the rock in the backfield, he runs with power and he has the speed to take it the distance. Johnson-Cook has quick feet, he runs with excellent pad level with power and when he see an opening he explodes to daylight. He has the speed to separate from defenders at the second level and had a 99 yard run during his freshman season. He is elusive in space with the ability to make quick cuts to make defenders miss in the open field. Myson is a two way player, who is a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. He has an explosive first step off the edge, he uses his hands well to keep blockers at arms length and he closes with violent intentions. He was a monster on the track this spring, blazing a 10.75 100m and he ran a 22.0 in the 200m at 6’3 220 pounds. He will be weapon in the Katy arsenal in 2024 and his recruiting profile is on the radar of programs around the country. Oregon, Texas A&M and Tennessee are several of the double digit offers on the table for Myson heading into his sophomore season.
Highlights
Snell is a playmaker who is a weapon on both sides of the ball. From the free safety position, he plays with a ballhawk mentality, he has the speed to cover ground in a hurry and his field vision is superb, allowing him to make plays on the football. Snell is a sure tackler who takes proper angles to the football, he plays with good leverage and he lays the lumber at impact. JayQuan is an exceptional athlete who is a difference maker with the ball in his hands and he can make plays offensively. Great hands, clean route running and an explosive burst are traits in his game that surface when Snell gets the ball in his hands. He has seen his recruiting profile take off this offseason, with offers from Oklahoma, Baylor, Ole Miss, USC and a recent Texas offer adding to his list of collegiate suitors. Look for Snell’s game to flourish heading into the 2024 season.
Miller is a technician along the offensive line, he has nimble feet with excellent short area quickness, he has an explosive burst at the snap of the ball and his ability to deliver a stiff punch at impact allows him to gain control of his opponents early at engagement. At 6’4 285 pounds, Peyton has an extended reach with a lean frame with ability to add healthy bulk. He uses he arm length to his advantage with superb hand placement at engagement, he has violent hands that he uses to stun defenders and his piston like leg drive enables him to drive defenders off their axis. Miller plays with a nasty streak, he finishes his blocks through the whistle and he is a ferocious blocker in the running game. He was a wall at the left tackle position for Anna, showing the ability to get into his kick slide quickly and his ability to bend well at the hip allows him to wipe out rushers in pass protection. A First-Team All-District Selection, as well as a Freshman All-American Award, were several accolades that Miller received in 2023 while helping lead Anna to a state title. His offseason started with a bang, picking up 8 offers in the month of January from the likes of SMU, Tulsa, TCU, Houston, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Arkansas. Miller returns to anchor the Anna offensive line in 2024 as one the top players in the state of Texas in the class of 2027.
