Simmons is one of the most dynamic defensive players in the country. He can line up anywhere along the line and be dominant. Colin has an explosive get off, he has violent hands at initial engagement, his extended arm length enables him to keep blockers from getting to his chest and he closes in on the passer under control with bad intentions. Simmons set a Duncanville Panther single season record with 22 sacks in 2022 and was the 11-6A CO-MVP, helping the Panthers win the 6A-DI state title. Colin is a physical presence in the run defense, he sets a firm edge, he uses excellent leverage at the point of attack and his closing speed causes disruption when he makes impact with the ball carrier. Simmons is relentless, he has a high motor and these traits make him one of the most sought after prospects in the state of Texas.

Simmons was unblockable! He lived in the North Shore backfield and got there a variety of ways. Nice get off, he used his speed to get onto the offensive linemen in a hurry. Neither tackle could keep up with him. He displayed good feel for when to dip under blocks. His ‘speed to power’ was sudden and explosive. Simmons did not allow a lineman to get into his body. He also caused the first turnover of the game, batting the ball in the air for an interception. That was like the 2nd or 3rd play of the game! It must have been foreshadowing for the night ahead of him. The unquestioned Defensive MVP, Simmons ended the night with 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 QB hurries, and a pass deflection!
