About Luciano
Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Lopez is the type of edge defender who can make his impact felt through effort and consistency. He has the ability to work around blocks, stay involved in the play and make quarterbacks uncomfortable when he gets a clean path to the pocket. His development against the run will also be important as he looks to become a more complete defender. With another season of reps ahead, Lopez has a chance to turn those flashes into steady production and become a player offenses have to account for.

Luciano is an exciting edge/defensive presence to watch this season, and his length is the first thing that stands out on film. He uses that frame to his advantage, keeping blockers at distance and creating disruption in both the run game and pass rush.
What he does well starts with how he plays with range and control. That length allows him to affect plays even when he isn’t perfectly positioned—he can reach, disrupt, and stay involved in the action without needing perfect leverage every time.
He also shows good effort in pursuit. When plays break down or bounce outside, Luciano has the ability to cover ground and stay in the play, which adds value beyond just the initial rush. That hustle helps him consistently show up around the football.
In addition, he flashes solid potential as a pass rusher when he uses his length properly. He can create separation with his arms, keep offensive linemen off his chest, and work his way into pressure situations.

Luciano brings an aggressive and disruptive mindset to the edge position. What stands out on film is his ability to get off the ball quickly and challenge offensive tackles with speed and effort. He plays with good leverage and knows how to use his hands to create separation, preventing blockers from locking him up cleanly.
He shows strong pursuit traits — consistently chasing plays down from the backside and staying active even when the rush doesn’t come home immediately. Against the run, he works hard to set the edge and force ball carriers back inside where help is waiting. As he continues developing his pass-rush counters and adding strength to his frame, his ability to win consistently in one-on-one situations will only increase.
