Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Myson isn’t your typical running back he’s a relentless workhorse built for physicality and production. Standing out with a punishing running style, he welcomes contact and runs with purpose, often turning what should be short gains into statement making plays. In 2024, he racked up 911 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, proving his ability to carry the load and deliver in crucial moments.
What sets Myson apart is not just his power, but his motor. He runs angry, lowers his shoulder through arm tackles, and consistently finishes runs falling forward. College programs have taken notice he holds offers from national powers including Florida, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, Florida State, and more. With his blend of toughness, vision, and high end production. Myson is now heading into his JR season ready to elevate his game.

Transferred from: MacArthur High School (Decatur, Illinois) to Katy High School (Katy, Texas)
I’m currently updating and finalizing the inaugural Illinois 2027 Rankings for PrepRedzoneIL, and selfishly I would have loved for this kid to stay in the Midwest and rep the Great State of Illinois. He’d be either #1 or #2 in Illinois as of right now, and the Land of Lincoln would have loved to retain his talent, especially if you’re the staff and players at MacArthur High School in Decatur. However, you can’t blame a kid for taking the opportunity to play at a program that vaunted 6A Texas program Katy, and the freshman season he had at MacArthur was nothing short of freaky.
A 6’3, 220 lb. prep RB, but with the special size/athleticism combo, I like the “ATH” designation for Johnson Cook, given the tools and amount of time left in his development and maturation. I don’t use this word often, but Myson Johnson Cook is a freak. 6’3, 220 lber. with 10.75 100M & 22.0 200M speed, a MaxPreps All-American, verified 4.53 40 as a freshman, and earned an instate P4 offer from Illinois prior to his freshman year kicking off, Johnson Cook is the closest thing you can find to dropping Derrick Henry into a prep football game. Displays absurd contact balance for his age and exactly what you’d hope for in a RB of his size with a vicious truck stick and and the speed to outrun defenders by 15-20 yards every touchdown. Talking about speed, Johnson Cook exemplifies homerun speed, and opens his tape with a 100-yard run deep from the back of his own endzone that finished with him 20 yard away from the nearest pursuer. The speed is legit, folks, and the acceleration is frightening, he can go from running you over to top speed in a blink. The track speed shows up not only in the fact that he’s 15-20 yards away from the closest defender every TD run, but also in his beautiful sprint form and gait. Also displays smooth and fluid cuts and change of direction ability, adding to the freakiness for his size and age. He can beat tackle attempts with pure speed, power, or quickness, but adds a particularly physically dominant and downright rare & special flavor to the film and onto the gridiron. As our General Manager and National Scouting Director Jake Lemming has stated: this kid looks like a 5star. That means a future first round NFL Draft pick, folks. Generational-type talent out of the Land of Lincoln who will finish things out in the Lonestar State. Johnson Cook offers from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia, Baylor, Purdue, SMU, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, and Illinois.

Myson is gamebreaker when he steps on the football field, when he totes the rock in the backfield, he runs with power and he has the speed to take it the distance. Johnson-Cook has quick feet, he runs with excellent pad level with power and when he see an opening he explodes to daylight. He has the speed to separate from defenders at the second level and had a 99 yard run during his freshman season. He is elusive in space with the ability to make quick cuts to make defenders miss in the open field. Myson is a two way player, who is a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. He has an explosive first step off the edge, he uses his hands well to keep blockers at arms length and he closes with violent intentions. He was a monster on the track this spring, blazing a 10.75 100m and he ran a 22.0 in the 200m at 6’3 220 pounds. He will be weapon in the Katy arsenal in 2024 and his recruiting profile is on the radar of programs around the country. Oregon, Texas A&M and Tennessee are several of the double digit offers on the table for Myson heading into his sophomore season.
