Continue ReadingWinton is a young man that came to our Stock Up Showcase in January and promptly won the defensive line MVP. At 6’3 280 Dominic has a good frame and wears his weight well. He plays with a good pad level and can overwhelm blockers with his strength and burst. Once he beats his man, he shows good awareness and athleticism to find and pursue to the ball. With a good camp season Winton will have a chance to start getting on the radar of college programs.
After a strong freshman year Matlock transferred to Columbus East. He’s a smaller but uber athletic cornerback. His athleticism is on full display as he shows off a smooth backpedal and fluid hips as he transitions to turn and run. He has an explosive break that he uses to make plays on the ball. The athletic skillset is there for Matlock, he just needs to continue getting bigger and stronger. With a strong summer camp and fall seasons, Matlock could start to blow up.
Laverde helped lead the Kirtland Hornets to the last 2 state championships, winning it all in 2023. Jake is an athletic QB who can hurt you both with his legs and arm. As a passer he does a good job of feeling pressure and climbing the pocket. He can throw outside the hashes but shows a great feel for making throws up the seam. On the run he keeps his eyes downfield and is really able to drive the ball down the field into pockets. As a runner Laverde does a great job of executing the zone read run game and has the speed and athleticism to make chunk plays. Being from a small school I think Laverde has a chance to really impress college coaches with a strong summer camps.
Rogers is a dynamic slot receiver who’s explosive in short spaces who has the long speed to take the top off the defense on any play. He has the footwear and twitchy athleticism that gives defenders fits in trying to slow his release. When given a cushion, he does a great job of setting up and making explosive breaks that create easy separation. He has the talent and confidence that he believes he’s going to win no matter who’s lining up across from him. I think teams may have been slow to offer him because of his size, but I think that time is over. Rogers is on the verge of a big camp season that he’s a legit division 1 play maker. Armani currently holds offers from Toledo and UMASS.
Faler had a strong sophomore season for the Warriors throwing for 1,900 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. He’s confident throwing the ball to all three levels and unafraid to throw into tight windows. You’re starting to see him throw with anticipation which is impressive for a sophomore. Luke has the arm strength to drive the ball whether it be from the pocket or on the run. He’s able to throw from different arm slots to avoid the ball being batted down. As Faler continues to grow and get stronger I think his game is going to go to another level.
