Laverde is a good running quarterback, posting 950 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season for the state runner-up program. What is his position in college is a question. He could be a defensive back with his playing history at safety.
Laverde helped lead the Kirtland Hornets to the last 2 state championships, winning it all in 2023. Jake is an athletic QB who can hurt you both with his legs and arm. As a passer he does a good job of feeling pressure and climbing the pocket. He can throw outside the hashes but shows a great feel for making throws up the seam. On the run he keeps his eyes downfield and is really able to drive the ball down the field into pockets. As a runner Laverde does a great job of executing the zone read run game and has the speed and athleticism to make chunk plays. Being from a small school I think Laverde has a chance to really impress college coaches with a strong summer camps.
