Continue ReadingOver the weekend I was asked about someone who I believed were some of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in Pennsylvania in the class of 2025 and who were some dual-threat quarterbacks that could be under the radar right now this spring. It was a good question and quite frankly, I had to go back and watch some updated tape and look at the numbers from last season to give an honest opinion.
Below, I go over a few of those quarterbacks that I think are worth noting in the class of 2025, but by no means are these the only dual-threat quarterbacks to know either. Some of these names you may already be familiar with while some others are players you may be learning about.
Many of you reading this may already know about Harrisburg’s Shawn Lee Jr. Shawn Lee Jr. ATH Harrisburg | 2025 State PA If you didn’t well, you’re about to know. One of the best quarterbacks and pure athlete in the state, Lee was the engine that made the Harrisburg offense go in 2023, totaling over 3,700 total yards from scrimmage thanks to 2,256 passing yards and 1,451 rushing yards.
From a passing perspective, Lee has always posted impressive numbers including this past fall in which he completed 144 of 215 passing attempts for 2,256 yards and 26 touchdowns to just five interceptions. In each of his three years as Harrisburg’s starting quarterback he’s posted 62% completion percentages or better including back to back years of 67.0%
As a rusher, Lee is explosive with great vision. He quickly identifies openings in the opposing defense, and bursts through them with ease. The only thing that may be holding back when it comes to receiving more Power Five offers is his size at 5-foot-10 and around 170-175 pounds. That being said, Iowa State, Kent State, and NC State have all offered.
Ferguson probably doesn’t get enough love from us at times but the Clarion-Limestone quarterback and three-sport athlete (baseball, basketball, and football) had a terrific junior season with 3,700+ yards from scrimmage including 2,698 passing yards and 868 rushing yards.
Ferguson has improved as a passer in each season of his career at Clarion-Limestone, seeing his completion percentage rise from 55.2% as a freshman to 56.2% as a sophomore, and to 63.5% as a junior this past fall. He also saw a huge dip in his interception rate this past season. After throwing 28 interceptions in his first two years combined, Ferguson saw that number drop to just seven in 2023 while scoring a combined 56 touchdowns.
Ferguson has quality size at 6-foot-0 and 185-pounds and is a good athlete with a reported 40-yard dash time of around 4.7 seconds. As a ball carrier, Ferguson is a tough runner and is tough to bring down. He’s a well built 185-pounds as one would expect with a bench press PR of 300 and a squat PR of 425. He shows quality vision both as a passer and a rusher, finding the seams in a defense to throw into and identifying potential openings on the ground. While he may not be as explosive as a Shawn Lee, there is still quite a bit of explosion and burst into his game as a runner, plenty of it to be effective at the next level.

The final quarterback we’re going to go a little longer on today is Brady Heiser Brady Heiser 6’1″ | 200 lbs | QB Gettysburg | 2025 State PA out of Gettysburg. He may not be your prototypical dual-threat quarterback but I think Heiser is a much better athlete than some give him credit for and while he may not be a “true” dual-threat quarterback depending on how you want to define one, he certainly can make plays with his legs.
He put together a really solid junior season totaling 2,404. total yards from scrimmage thanks to 1,868 passing yards and 536 rushing yards. It was his second year as Gettysburg’s starting quarterback and while his completion percentage dropped a little bit, it was still a very respectable 59.1%. Additionally, despite throwing an additional 71 passes, he only threw two additional interceptions, a very slight rise when it comes to his interception rate. That being said, he also doubled his touchdowns, with 18 passing touchdowns.
He may take off as much as two of the quarterbacks above him but when he does decide to run, Heiser is an effective ball carrier who will be able to pick up large chunks of yardage at times as well. On the ground, he averaged 5.5 yards per carry and totaled 16 touchdowns in 10 games, giving him 34 total touchdowns on the season and five total turnovers with one fumble lost.
Brady is a well built quarterback who is the quintessential “sneaky good” athlete. It will be interesting to see how that athleticism translates to the FCS level perhaps if that is where he ultimately ends up.

OTHERS TO KNOW
Jayden Floyd Jayden Floyd 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Leechburg | 2025 State PA – Leechburg
Intriguing prospect out of Leechburg, three-sport athlete (basketball, football, baseball). 56.0% completion percentage in 2023 and 8 passing touchdowns to eight interceptions. Will need to improve as a passer going forward but there is a foundation to work with. As a ball carrier, averaged 7.0 yards per carry and totaled 18 touchdowns on the ground.
Nolan Carey – Corry
The smallest quarterback on here, Carey is listed at 5-foot-9, if he could add another inch or two to his frame it would be beneficial but that of course is out of his hands. As a passer last year, he put up solid numbers, though his accuracy will need to improve. 49.8% completion percentage, over 1,500 total yards and 14 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. Improving accuracy and cutting down the turnovers will be pivotal for him going forward. On the ground, he averaged over five yards a carry this past season and seven touchdowns.
Zander Telesz Zander Telesz 6'3" | 165 lbs | ATH Hickory | 2025 State PA – Hickory
Really nice size out of Telesz at 6-foot-3 and 165-pounds, obviously will need to add more weight but that will come with time. Posted solid passing stats this past season with a 54.5% completion percentage and 1,482 yards to go with 18 touchdowns while throwing seven interceptions. On the ground, runs very well for his size, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, had a long on the season of 51 yards and had 10 rushing touchdowns.
