They finished the season 10-2 and with a 24-14 loss to Bergen Catholic in the state championship. An impressive season overall, their only other loss last year was against a team outside of the state. Following close behind are Pope John, DePaul, and Paramus Catholic. All 3 of these programs have reloaded for the 2024 season, making the division up for grabs. Unite White is about to get a lot more competitive next fall.
Luca Lopez
Luca Lopez
Built like a legitimate D1 talent, Delbarton’s Luca Lopez is ready to explode onto the scene in 2024. With JJ Watt-like characteristics, Luca is able to dominate at the line regardless of where he lines up. Elusive off of the edge, Luca is also strong enough to hold his own from the nose tackle position. Using his strength, Luca can take absolute control of a blocker and toss them to the side to get to the runner. Equipped with quickness as well, Luca builds up speed as he approaches the quarterback, forcing them to let the ball go quicker than they intended. Look for Luca to supply continuous pressure in 2024.
Officially the number 1 RB on Prep Redzone, Nolan James Nolan James 5’11” | 185 lbs | RB DePaul Catholic | 2025 State NJ Jr. should also jump up from the 25th position in the player rankings as the offseason progresses. I don’t believe there is an RB in the state with quicker reflexes than Nolan. His extraordinary vision allows him to see the whole field open up and run around defenders like he’s playing on the schoolyard. Rushing for 1422 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2023, Nolan runs with fluidity as he makes calculated cuts through the defense. Reminding me of Golden Tate anytime he carries the rock, Nolan is tough to bring down and even tougher to catch up to. Currently committed to Boston College but garnishing considerable interest from other top tier programs, I am making it a priority to see DePaul and Nolan James Nolan James 5’11” | 185 lbs | RB DePaul Catholic | 2025 State NJ Jr. in person this next fall.
With offers from Toledo, Navy, and Boston College, Phillip Folmar Phillip Folmar 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Delbarton | 2025 State NJ is sure to receiver many more by the time the season starts. Catching for 579 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2024 for Delbarton, Phillip is one of the main reasons we may see Delbarton’s offense thrive again in 2024. Deadly with the ball in his hands, Phillip reminds me of a young Deebo Samuel as you never know what he will do with it, but there’s always a chance he finds his way to the endzone. A crisp route runner with quick footwork, Phillip can shake off would-be tacklers with ease. A hybrid player that can flourish wherever he lines up, Phillip is ready to carve through defenses with unmatched acceleration in 2024.
Where are the offers for Xavier Williams Xavier Williams 5’8″ | 180 lbs | RB Paramus Catholic | 2025 State NJ ? This is a player programs are truly missing out on, and will regret it if they don’t get him on their roster. The Paramus Catholic product is a star on both sides of the ball, but I really see him thriving as a running back at the next level. Rushing for 16 touchdowns and 907 yards on the ground, Xavier is a reliable a runner between the tackles and running out on the perimeter. I am not concerned with Xavier’s height, as he runs the ball with aggression and determination. Arm tackles are never enough when trying to bring him to the ground, as his strong leg drive reminds me of how Blake Corum carries the rock. Get this kid some offers soon.
A Notre Dame commit, Elijah Burress Elijah Burress 6’1″ | 165 lbs | WR DePaul Catholic | 2025 State NJ is currently a top 10 WR in the state but in my rankings he’s a top 5 talent. A deadly route runner, Elijah moves around with fluidity as he shakes corners with his elite footwork. His first step can lock a defender up, giving him plenty of room to run and a huge window to throw into. Dangerous down the sideline as he has great body awareness and control, Elijah is following his father’s footsteps to a tee.
