Here are those players that made honorable mention in Class C and Class D; athletes that made an impact for their school but for one reason or another did not get the same recognition from New York State.
Quentin Centner
Quentin Centner
Quentin Centner did not make much noise in his first two seasons, catching 10 passes for 208 yards and 1 touchdown. But he came on strong has a senior demanding targets and catching 43 balls for 794 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a Free Safety, he also made his mark with 5 interceptions in a part time role. Centner possesses long range and is willing to fight for the ball. He is tough and will go across the middle, a trait that seems to be at a premium nowadays. With his 6’3 height, Quentin will win most jump balls. He will have to put on some weight but he certainly has the tools to go to the next level.
Maverick Adams
Maverick Adams
As a fullback, Maverick Adams is a tough, gritty runner – always fighting for extra yards and he blocks with great form. Seldomly used as a runner, Adams made the most of his opportunities, rushing for 649 yards and 10 touchdowns (including 8 as a senior). He made the All State Honorable Mention as a Defensive Lineman. In 3 seasons at D. End, Adams racked up 103 tackles 7 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries. He possesses quickness and good hand placement. Maverick rushes with QB with determination and tenacity. His small stature will get him overlooked by major colleges but his heart for the game could land him a spot on a JuCo or D III roster.
Devin Johnson
Devin Johnson
The Class D Champion Wolfpack were loaded with talent and Devin Johnson was an unsung hero sort of speak. A ferocious blocker from the Fullback position, Devin also made his mark a a short yardage specialist averaging 5.7 yard per carry in two seasons on Varsity. His senior year, he proved to be a viable option in the passing game with 16 receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown. When Johnson has the ball, he will run through a defender instead of running around them and never runs out of bounds. Still uncommitted, Johnson has had garnered interest from Hilbert College, Grove City, among others.
Nik Manroe Nik Manroe OL Portville/Cuba/Rushford | 2024 NY was Portville’s starting Right Tackle in his Senior season. He plays much bigger than his 200 lb frame suggests. Manroe is aggressive and plays with no fear. He has a great kickstep and is an exceptional puller on sweeps and screens. Nik is very light for Offensive Linemen standards so if he is looking to continue his athletic career, he may have to do so as a Defensive End, where he spent three years playing – accumulating 69 tackles (10 for loss) and 4 sacks.
In his Junior season, Cole Callard Cole Callard K Medina | 2025 State NY was the Section VI leader in Extra Points Made (44), Kickoff Yards (3,106) and Touchbacks (24). Cole also was 4/5 on Field Goals, kicking a long of 47 (which was also a school record). Seldomly called upon as a Punter, Cole averaged 39 yards per kick with 57 being his longest. A two sport athlete, Callard was named 1st team All Western New York in Soccer. His experience in Soccer coupled with being mentored by former NFL Kicker Mike Vanderjagt, Cole Callard Cole Callard K Medina | 2025 State NY is sure to get some collegiate interests as a Senior in 2024.
