Here’s a look at the big boys up front that made the initial list, in alphabetical order.
– Played for Silk City
One of the better interior offensive linemen in the state at this point. Powerful at point of contact and is not lazy up front. Can play guard or tackle at this point, with an interior position looking like a more probable spot going forward. Decently athletic for a bigger body. Can pull and lead block, even to the short side of the field. Athletic enough to get out in space and force smaller corners/linebackers to make a business decision. Straight up earth-mover on down blocks. Also is as good, or better, on the defensive line.
Highlights
– Played for Brick City
Rajgopaul has been a mainstay for the tremendous run that Newark-based Brick City Lions have been on. A big, athletic offensive linemen that can play both guard and tackle at an extremely high level. Not a very talkative kid in person or on social media, just puts on his work boots and gets the job done. Love his feet for having the size he does, at this stage. Makes getting up to the second level look mundane. Has a shot to become an even better defensive tackle in the long term. Kid is going places.
– Played for Matawan
A big body that has played against a ton of top talent around the country during his youth football career with Matawan. The Bayonne native has gotten away with just being bigger than most people up to this point, but may be turning the corder when it comes to being a more complete offensive lineman. I like him as an offensive tackle moving forward, if he can continue to improve overall athleticism.
– Played for Big 215 Extreme
They don’t come much bigger on the pre-high school level , than Williams. The mammoth lineman reminds me a ton of 2027 prospect Nyeem Powell (now at Imhotep) with just how big and powerful he can be. He’s a good interior lineman right now but must shed a few pounds and improve his speed/foot work before getting into high school. Speaking of high school, the south jersey native has narrowed his choices down to two New Jersey schools (Willingboro and Camden) and three Philadelphia schools (Imhotep, Roman Catholic and St. Joe’s Prep).
– Played for Jackson
If there was any offensive lineman on this list that is nowhere near how good he could potentially become, Williams is that guy. He’s a big body that has a pair of cruise ships for feet. Played offensive tackle during the New Jersey 14U All-Star team’s run to the AYF National Championship. From when I first saw him at the tryout in September to watching him at AYF Nationals in December, he was night and day. Only been playing football for a year or so; if he continues to improve at this rate–he could be scary good.
