The offseason is officially here and for the third consecutive year, we’ll have a special series from now until May. It’s the Friday Film Review series and every Friday, we’ll take a look at prospects from all over the state. We’ll break down their film from last season. What stands out about the prospect, what can they improve, how do they project, all of those questions answered in these breakdowns. As we say each year, these aren’t just puff pieces. The majority of the review is positive but we also get into what can be improved for each individual prospect. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma each Friday for another Film Review!

One of them is defensive back Adam Auston Adam Auston 6’2″ | 200 lbs | DB Lawton MacArthur | 2026 State OK and during his sophomore season, he primarily played as a cornerback in the slot or more of a hybrid safety. When he lined up at corner, it was hard not to be impressed with his instincts and how he was able to move while keeping his eyes in the backfield and knowing when to make a play on the ball. When he’s further back in the secondary, Auston is a great tackler in the open field. He’s a heat seeking missile and has great speed from Point A to Point B. You combine that speed with the fact that Auston also has good size and looks the part physically and you have a dangerous player. Moving forward, if he continues to work on his lateral speed and gaining a quicker first step to go with his top-end speed, he will see his recruiting absolutely explode. That recruitment has already begun with P5 offers throughout November and December. The only question we have about Auston is where will schools like him at the next level? Will he end up at corner or further back at safety?

Williams was a two-way player for the Owls and played really well on the defensive line as a nose guard but this breakdown is all about the offensive side of the ball. Williams is violent at the point of attack and his offensive film was very impressive to watch. During the 2023 season, Williams primarily lined up at left tackle but would also see time at right tackle as well. Standing around 6’3, Williams looks like a prototypical center or guard at the next level but is dominating opponents from the tackle position in high school. There are countless clips on his film of him just tossing or overpowering opponents to the ground. What’s really scary to watch is when Williams gets out of his stance in a hurry and is pulling as a lead blocker for Elgin’s explosive running game. It felt like Williams completely immobilized his opponent in every single clip. We’re curious if Williams will stick at tackle in the fall or will he move to the interior of the offensive line. Either way, he’s an offensive lineman that is a next level prospect and is potentially top five at his position.

Junior Jordan Mcclain Jr Jordan Mcclain Jr 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB North Rock Creek | 2025 State OK had a breakout season for NRC on both sides of the ball. When we put on the junior film, we weren’t sure where to project him position-wise. He’s currently listed as an athlete but after watching the tape, he looks like a defensive prospect. As a junior, Mcclain would line up at tight end and defensive end for North Rock Creek. On defense, he’s an absolute monster coming off the edge. We really liked to see versatility in his game on the defensive side of the ball. He was just as comfortable putting his hand in the dirt as he is in a standing stance. And with that, comes a deep bag of moves to beat opposing offensive linemen. He could beat opponents with a variety of moves and between that, his versatility and a motor that doesn’t seem to slow down, we like Mcclain on defense. On offense, Mcclain was impressive at the tight end position and showcased that athleticism but still looked like that defensive monster that happened to play offense. Physically, he might project to being more of a linebacker in college.

Rejoice Christian 2024 kicker Maverick Price Maverick Price 6’0″ | K Rejoice Christian | 2024 State OK has been one of the more consistent kickers in the Tulsa area over the last several seasons. Getting recruited as a kicker is incredibly tough and you’re more than likely going to have to accept a preferred walk on offer. But when we throw on the film for the Rejoice standout, it’s clear that he’s one of the better kickers on the east side of the state. First off, Price is an absolute weapon on kickoff. An underrated part of football is when you have a kicker that routinely puts the ball in the back of the end zone on a kickoff. Price does just that and the team’s ability to limit big plays is impacted. Then Price showcased that same leg power on several field goals during his senior season. One kick in particular was good from 46 yards and it had enough room to be good from 50+ yards. Price has a soccer background and the power and consistency on his kicks should not be overlooked moving forward. There isn’t much to critique here for Price as a prospect. The biggest critique unfortunately is that he’s a kicker. The spots for him at the next level are limited because of it but wherever he lands will be happy to have him.

Williamson got hurt in the first half of the Union game and that put an end to what was an impressive first season as QB1 of the Broncos. When we evaluated Williamson during the season, we saw a really good athlete that was playing quarterback and still have him listed at quarterback. He’s certainly a dual-threat signal caller that has really good size and stands tall in the pocket. You put on the film from last season and from a pure passer standpoint, you can’t help but be impressed with the arm strength. He drives the ball downfield and the accuracy was impressive. And one thing we like to see from a dual-threat QB is patience in the backfield. Williamson can beat defenses with his legs but he doesn’t just tuck and run immediately. He’s a patient runner and keeps his eyes downfield and reads his blocks really well on designed runs. We’re looking to see Williamson continue to develop as a passer. It’s clear that he’s a good athlete but we want to see if he can be a good quarterback that is athletic.
