Continue ReadingWithout a shadow of a doubt, the most important position in all of sports is arguably the quarterback. Since football’s inception all the way back in 1869 when the first ever game was played, the man under center has had quite the load of responsibilities on his shoulders. In the Centennial State this past weekend, there were plenty of spectacular performances with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line. With a chance to etch themselves and their teams in history forever, which signal callers rose to the occasion and led their troops to victory?
Cool, calm, and collected. No doubt about it, Brady Vodicka Brady Vodicka 6’1″ | 205 lbs | QB Cherry Creek | 2026 CO has all of the traits of leading the Cherry Creek Bruins to yet another championship. A year ago, Vodicka was a freshman en route to becoming a state champion, and the odds that the Bruins are able to win their unfathomable fifth-consecutive championship in a row could very well be in the works. By the time the final seconds ticked off in Cherry Creek’s 31-7 second-round victory over Legacy, it proved to be Vodicka’s right arm that paved the way to triumph.

Once again, Mr. Modrzewski is on an absolute tear. When it is all said and done, the biggest reason why Mountain Vista could find themselves taking home a state title is due to their superstar quarterback who isn’t afraid to back down from any challenge. In Vista’s second round win over Castle View resulting in a 52-20 beatdown, the junior signal caller shredded the Sabercats for 306 yards passing while only having a total of six incompletions on the night. Did I mention he racked up three touchdowns through the air as well? Overall, Modrzewski possesses the proper arm talent, ideal size, and stellar leadership to be a difference maker at the Division-I level.

As solid and steady as they come, Cameron Cooper Cameron Cooper 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Pine Creek | 2025 State CO out of Pine Creek is in the midst of some tremendous play over the course of his last two games played. In fact, Cooper has amassed seven touchdowns to only one interception over that span and is clearly clicking on all cylinders at the perfect time. Even more so, Cooper plays far bigger than his size and is a tough son of a gun. Whether it’s scrambling out of the pocket for extra yards or blowing the top off of opposing defenses with the deep ball, Cooper should remain a bonafide threat for the majority of this postseason

At first glance, Hester only attempted a total of four passes, but he sure did make them count. Believe it or not, but despite Hester’s lack of attempts through the air, the Palmer Ridge quarterback had a knack for the end zone as all three of his completions went for paramount scores. In addition, Hester once again used his legs to find pay dirt on the ground. Simply put, Hester’s decision making is impeccable, he remains poised under pressure, and can make plays out of nothing.
“He’s a guy that our guys do follow. His competitiveness is contagious to our guys.”

Whenever an offense puts up a 66 burger on the scoreboard, it is highly likely that the team’s quarterback happened to be the main culprit. In this case, Lutheran QB Ryken Dauguaard did exactly that. Furthermore, the senior signal caller may be playing his final moments of high school football, but he isn’t slowing down any time soon. In a regular season that saw him fire a whopping 29 touchdowns, Mr. Dauguaard is trying to finish what he started after the Lions came up short last season in the playoffs.

Another team in Mesa Ridge that heavily utilized their rushing attack during the second round of the playoffs, junior Bryce Riehl Bryce Riehl 5’11” | QB Mesa Ridge | 2025 State CO still made every single throw of his count in the biggest of ways. By the conclusion of the Grizzlies stomping over the Loveland Red Hawks by a score of 57-7, Riehl went 6/7 for 96 yards and even tacked on 30 rushing yards which further demonstrated his sneaky athletic ability. Indeed, Riehl is a leader through and through, and he undoubtedly belongs on this list.
To cap off this illustrious list with another Class of 3A arm, look no further than the do-it-all young man himself in Roosevelt QB Bronco Hartson Bronco Hartson 6’0″ | 195 lbs | QB Roosevelt | 2024 State CO . Clearly, the four-year player has made it known that he can burn opposing defenses not only with his arm, but his scrambling ability as well. In a 55-20 rout of Riverdale Ridge, it ended up being the Ravens that had no answer for Hartson’s electrifying play. At the end of the day, don’t be surprised if Hartson leads Roosevelt to a second straight 3A title.
