Mykul Campbell Mykul Campbell 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Decatur Central | 2026 State IN – Decatur Central – DB – 6’1″ 190lbs
Campbell has been nothing short of fantastic this year and is a big reason why Decatur Central’s defense is firing on all cylinders right now. A suffocating performance against Whiteland in Regionals has them on their way to Semi-State. Campbell doesn’t guess what he sees in the backend. He does a good job reading and reacting without much-wasted movement. He’s intelligent enough to hand off WRs in the backend in coverage as well as take good angles in the running game. He’s fantastic when he’s coming into the backfield. His timing and instincts at the line are pretty impressive, which is why he’s got 11 TFLs this year. Those skills combined with his unlimited range and explosive starts are why he’s such a fantastic raw athlete flying around the backend making plays. Campbell is just hitting his stride and yet still managed to put up 69 tackles, 11 TFLs, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 recovered fumble, and 4 passes batted down. It’s been an awesome year for Campbell proving he not only belongs on the big stage but is here for years to come to harass offenses.

Slade Fell Slade Fell 6'2" | 200 lbs | DB Northview | 2026 State IN – Northview – ATH – 6’2″ 190lbs
Fell has made the transition to defense, and it may have been the right move. He was an RB who did a lot of great things, but he’s just now coming off of an incredible year playing LB. His frame is well built for his age and he does a good job holding up in the middle of that defense. He’s got no issue coming downhill to play the run. He does a good job not getting lost through all the traffic, sorting out which gap to hit, and simply wrapping up. His strong arms and hands allow him to latch on and bring down guys fairly easily. For his first year playing the position, you wouldn’t have known by looking at the tape. Sure, there are learning moments and an error here or there, but he’s a young recruit who has been making plays and learning on the fly. To put up 58 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 3 interceptions, and 4 passes deflected in your first year playing a position is an impressive feat. Fell’s surprising decision to move to LB may work out for him because he’s on the fast track to stardom if he continues to play and develop at this level.

Isaac Nelson Isaac Nelson 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Heritage Christian | 2026 State IN – Heritage Christian – ATH – 6’2″ 190lbs
Nelson is a really fun recruit to watch because he feels out of place but for good reasons. He’s so athletic, has such great range, and sees the field so well that it almost felt like there were times Heritage Christian just sent him to the back to play single-high by himself and let everyone else go to work. Nelson will clean up any messes that come his way, or that he can prevent. If that’s the case, he did a pretty good job this year. Nonetheless, the range and reaction speed he has is what sets him apart. With his length and frame, you’d expect him to be in the 2nd level. But, his raw abilities allow him to move to the 3rd level and be a slightly more impactful player. Nelson’s tape surprised me because I anticipated a LB who had decent speed. I didn’t expect to find a hybrid-type player who could be used in way more ways than 1, but that’s where we are with Nelson. 72 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble round out his stats for the year, but the flash and ability he showed all year should have him rising all over. Nelson’s tape speaks for itself, and it won’t be long until his traction begins to really pick up.

James Williams James Williams 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Lawrence Central | 2026 State IN – Lawrence Central – OL – 6’3″ 265lbs
Williams is a recruit we hit earlier this spring as a guy with the potential to break out. He checked quite a few boxes and has a rare frame for guys his age. His length is real and it’s only improved over the past 10 months or so. He’s got long legs and can gain depth fairly easily. While his footwork and mechanics aren’t quite there yet, they are much improved even from the spring. His raw strength is obvious and he blows guys off the ball. When he gets into a collegiate lifting program, he’s a guy who could easily blow up. I can see Williams pushing 6’4″ and 300lbs+ if he lands in the right program and gives it everything he’s got. There’s no doubt that the goal would be for him to develop into a starting Tackle at the next level. Not only does he have the length and ability to gain depth, but he’s fairly light on his feet and does a good job passing off blitzers and recognizing the hot defender. His season was fairly sound showing all the good, with some learning moments in between, as you’d expect. It shouldn’t take long for Wiliams to be found and to quickly rise in the recruiting ranks, because he seems to be on the path to a special big man up front.
